United (H) Post Match Thread

Absolutely Gutted still, mainly because its more of we allowed it to happen. Only back to winning streak next match and getting this lot in the next cup round will make me feel better.

Sometimes one of your most potent weapons can also be a weakness, so I would like to see Kev operate the false nine a lot more, rather than be just a big name body into the standard midfield three.

I'd prefer to see him on the right if he is going to start. He doesn't look like scoring and his main weapon these days seems to be crossing. That might play to his current strengths a bit more while he regains fitness and form.

Neither were penalties, nowhere near.

The first one was laughable, Sterling overran the ball as usual and fell over his own feet.

We created half chances, all shots from either distance or scuffed.

If you break it down, only Zinchenko's drive from the edge of the area and Rodri's off the top of the bar gave Henderson much to even worry about.
So true, we never got behind them, their full back always had the upper hand.

Wan-Bissake had and has the measure of Sterling, fatty Shaw is a much improved player this season, we badly missed Foden and Bernardo's energy yesterday.

Yes, even the right hand side, but I happen to think that is Foden's best position for the next couple years?

Mahrez has played well recently and didn't do much wrong yesterday, couldn't fault his effort, so Pep should get back to picking players on performance, rather than reputation?

Allowing for tiredness, granted. Everyone goes on about our big squad but there have been signs of tiredness since before Arsenal game?

One game, still created chances to win it, still in a great position, still should go on and win the league, still gutted we lost, time to move on. As someone tweeted #perspective, we lost a game, a blue lost his life yesterday, #perspective

Foden should have scored, Sterling missed a sitter, decent half chances for jesus, gundog and Rodri. Another game we score 4. De bruyne was poor but he's the sort of player that will win us the CL. As they say form is temporary class is permanent.

The Rags showed we still have a lot of improvements to make.

We still have major weaknesses against counter attacking teams, we still look vulnerable.

We put together a quite incredible run, but yet again failed against a poor United team, very, very disappointing.
True but the start was appalling. Jesus was putting his arm all over Rashford and Taylor had no option but to give it . If Jesus lets Rashford alone then they get nothing as he's going square along the line of our box with defenders in numbers. A rush of blood to the head wrecks the game. I hope someone has had words. It's disgraceful at this level

No matter the players and the tactics, there's always a chance that we lose. That's football. The probability that we'd concede a penalty in the 1st minute was absolutely minimal but it happened and influenced the whole game. Literally nothing guarantees a win and a great performance in football. That's why it is such a special game.

Don't think Pep underestimates the derby. He has won 5 times at their ground. His record there is fantastic. 5 wins from 8 games is probably some record there. It's his record at the Etihad which is poor. Probably because it just happens that the away games are more important to us than the home games. Another factor is that we are more cautious at their ground and don't make silly mistakes.

Stupid and unnecessary challenge.

Even without that, I still think we would have struggled to win the game, the way Pep set us up played to their strengths.

They have pace on the counter and very good defensive full backs, we had little pace or energy yesterday.
