United (H) Post Match Thread

Pep still doesn't get derbies, the team selection was totally wrong. Crying out for Silva and Foden from the off. Yet again he picks the wrong team in a derby.
The team was beaten in the first minute, they dont have the mental resilience to win games from behind still.
I do wonder sometimes whether pep secretly likes the Rags more, he spends a lot of time sucking them off before games and doesn't seem to understand the rivalry.
Maybe next season we should just send them the 6 points in the post.
You've fucked up another derby again, thanks Pep.

Catching the virus when he was supposedly isolating, I imagine the club were totally pissed off with him, maybe still are.
So is he fit or not ? I know he hasn't had much match time, but for me if his on the bench he is there to maybe do a job. If we have no intention of playing him select someone else.

That performance was a surprise and a wake-up call. It might do us some good. We were way off our usual selves today.

The mark of a true champion is to get back up and start again after a defeat, Win against Southampton and then move on to Fulham. This is an opportunity for us to start an unbeaten run until the end of the season.

I don't think there was any chance we won 42 games in a row, or even go 49 unbeaten which is what we needed to do to win the quadruple and not lose in the league.

Sooner or later a loss was going to happen and I'm glad it was in the league and not the CL quarter final or FA Cup or at Wembley to give Spurs silverware.

Obviously you'd rather it was against almost anyone else but United, but realistically it was going to have to be someone near the top of the table. IMO (and I've said it on here) there's been an air of overcomplicating and complacency to some performances since the Spurs game and after 2 near misses, we finally dropped points.

If we'd scragged a win today, we probably would have had our bad game against Monchengladbach, or Everton and it'd cost us a trophy.
We started the season awfully with a fit De Bruyne and then turned it around when he was injured.

We’ve looked imperious up until the Arsenal game when De Bruyne returned and now suddenly we are back to conceding goals and now dropping points.

The worrying thing is almost every one of our high profile defeats is on the back of controversial team selection. So it’s not like Pep learns from it.

We need to drop De Bruyne. But he won’t and it will continue to cost us.

My biggest worry is it we have gone back to the team and formation we had before the 21 wins in a row. The inverted wingers, the unbalanced midfield, changing it for no reason against the bigger teams, Foden and Bernardo not being starters now we have a filly fit squad.

Hopefully its just a one off, but this result has hurt whether we are still 11 points clear or not

The team selection and performance was all wrong right from the start, and we could all see it apart from Pep
Yes true, but we won with different formations, today aggressive players were missing.
Bernardo, Gundogan, and Rodri in the middle, and Foden, Jesus, and Sterling attacking. why pep disturbing that rhythm and flow? for the sake of De Bruyne?

Absolute bollocks.. In all competitions during this run we have beaten.. Aresenal away x 2, Spurs, Liverpool away, Chelsea away, Utd away and all when it mattered.

We lost to utd when we were 14 fucking points clear.

which of those above mattered the least to our success this season?
None of those games mattered as much as todays. Simple as that.

I’ll never turn on Pep, even after yet another Derby performance like this one but today is a perfect example of why we will never ever win the Champions league or even get to a final with him as manager. Personally I don’t care about that as he whole shebang is bent anyway but over the last few years there have been worryingly predictable performances in so many big derby games and knockout CL ties. There’s a pattern:

1) Talk up the opposition. Include phrases such as “We are not yet on their level, we are not the same size as them. We do not have the history of them. They are a European giant”
2) Disregard the team sheet and tactics that have got us into such a great position and prove how amazing you are by changing a winning formula .
3) Never, ever, under any circumstances play Foden for the full 90 minutes in a game where every football fan in the country knows he would be busting a gut to do well.
4) ALways play Raheem in games where history tells you he will shit his pants and underperform.
5) Talk our performances down publicly Thus risking undermining players confidence.
6) Repeat next time.

Watch out for point one should we get past Gladbach and draw a Bayern,Barca, Madrid. I will pay off the mortgage of the entire forum if he doesn’t use one of those phrases in the run up to the game.
Agree with 1 especially. Yesterday's, "its a privilege to play them" is not the right pre-derby message to us, the players, or the club.
You just have to get the result if you're going to dare to come out with that shite.
Where does he get off on making such contradictory statements. One minute, "we don't have to ask permission to compete" the next it's this pile of shite.
Fuming

Is that 1 point out of last 12 against them??, pep got it completely wrong today, no foden or bernardo with their energy killed us

Who cares its winning trophies that counts. I wouldn't give a toss if we never beat the scum again, if we win the pl, or cl and they are Europe league fodder for every season going forward. Beating us is all they have to cling too.
