United (H) | Post Match Thread

That's precisely why I was disappointed at the end of the match.

If we'd started the second half at even 50% of the standard of the first, we'd have been 6 or 7 up and out of sight by the hour mark. It should have been 10.

We were magnificent, both on the pitch and in the stands. Beyond anything that anyone could have expected.

Truly, the best team in the land and all the world.
We actually had quite a good chance right at the start of the second half, when they made a right pig‘s ear of playing out from the back. Had we taken that one, it would have probably set the tone for the half.

Ederson, 6 - strange game for him because he's let three in and made a couple of good saves, yet never seemed that troubled?

Walker, 6 - looked okay before going off, hope the injury isn't serious
Akanji, 8 - was absolutely brilliant in the first half, understandably exposed when Pep took the midfield off
Ake, 8 - won loads of big headers in the first half, again exposed when Pep removed the entire midfield
Cancelo, 7 - kept Antony relatively quiet and supported Grealish well

Gundogan, 8 - was asked to do a big job today and did it well, we weren't the same after he went off
De Bruyne, 9 - lovely to watch when he's in this kind of mood, pass for Haaland's 2nd was outrageous
Bernardo, 8 - always busy and industrious, laid it on well for Foden's goal

Foden, 10 - absolutely superb stuff, the kind of game that dreams are made of
Haaland, 10 - fucking hell, man, just gobbles up everything that goes near him
Grealish, 7 - played brilliantly in spells and had Dalot on toast in the first 30 mins, faded a bit in the second half

Subs:
Gomez, 6 - laid on Haaland's 3rd really nicely but struggled in possession

Firstly, I hope that those doubters and moaners who posted on the pre match thread are at least happy with the result! That new signing of ours isn’t too bad is he? We absolutely played them off the park in the first half and could have been 2 up before we actually scored. Let’s face it, we played in second gear for most of the second half and I am sure that Pep was already thinking about the number of games we have to play over the next 2 months. Despite many thinking that the score gave that lot some respectability , their manager at least admitted that they got “hammered”. We definitely burst their bubble and shattered their dreams of becoming potential challengers to us.
