United (N) | FA Cup Final | Post-Match Thread

I see the fantasy that United "got back into the game" is still being peddled. ..............
Can anyone remember Ortega having to make a save? The only one that comes to my mind was the block in the second minute of stoppage time. I believe it was the old rag, Dublin, who said it was "men against boys"
The biased **** actually said, "Unfortunately, it was men against boys."

Proximity was the issue when it was if the ball hits your hand in the penalty area, it was a penalty.

They then watered it down with hand to ball, ball to hand & proximity.

Those have been replaced by unnatural position, proximity & hand to ball. It's still open to interpretation & as it stand I'm fucked if I know what the rule is THIS WEEK, as it'll probably be different to what it was last week.

I've no idea how the football authorities intend to resolve this to the satisfaction of the majority...

Only way to take the interpretation out of it is that if a ball hits your hand in the penalty it’s hand ball. There’s too much for a ref to spin it how they want. Distance to player, speed of the ball, position of the arm, is he looking at the ball. Another day that gets waved on and ignored and probably wouldn’t have been given the other end.

The letter of the law hasn't changed: what has changed are the instructions on what grounds handball is to be judged deliberate. The laws of the game are still intended to ensure that the game is played fairly and that matches are not decided by deliberate foul play. These instructions are not intended to "allow" the referee to make perverse or plainly stupid decisions, as was the case on Saturday. The problem that the authorities have is to ensure that referees are respected, trusted and make judgements which do nor favour one side. This is not the case as far as Saturday is concerned. This decision, made by VAR but accepted by the referee, ignored factors which had to be taken into consideration and saddled the FA cup final with yet another irrational decision. Jack Grealish was NOT guilty of deliberate handball and no penalty should have been awarded in that instance.

All of this fussing could be changed if handball becomes an indirect free kick offence - unless it stops a goal in the penalty area.
Or "stops a goal scoring opportunity"? But doesn't this open another can of worms? We can't trust the ref and we can't trust VAR - that's the real problem.

Love how trent got away with proper handball in that game v us , when it was said var was not on that day , i can believe that

Red shirt no pen, blue shirt defo pen , thems the rules
Must be linked to all their cctv cameras around & outside the ground .
