To be fair, Rasher Chops has a point. Until last season they'd won a major trophy in every season with a CL final thrown in. The problem is where and when does that tipping point take effect.

Many teams lay down and allow them to be trampled on knowing that either they are wasting their time or the manager will get it in the neck. Last season specifically, teams slowly began to change their outlook, especially once they realised that United had their quota of dubious decisions filled.

The Glazer's have been good for United on the field as they know this is the only way to keep the pennies rolling in. Where they've failed is to not sort the debt out as they'd previously envisaged and that may be where it all goes wrong.
I know what you mean, but that only happened in Europe. Utd got one of their best every points tallies last season in the league so not too much changed there.
Think the Wigan game, Everton at home. Usually these teams roll over but not last season. Slowly but surely Ferguson's influence is beginning to wane. It doesn't happen overnight but it's started and will soon prove the undoing of him.

I just wonder if he'll have to endure stepping down mid-season, now that'd be a sight for sore eyes.

Yeah but they still tonked Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs etc. As I say, 89 pts is a huge tally.

He is quite right I cant think of a single team other than the rags ever in the history of football playing a player under 19

Istry! If he was confident he wouldn't be talking about the past. The future is bright, the future is Blue.

You have no interest in our closest rivals? Really?

Their close rivals now, but for a very long time they were close only in geography.
In truth, for the longest time, watching Utd only reinforced just how poor we were, I was more interested in getting to 40 points, if I had any interest in other teams it was the likes of Stoke, Bolton, Blackburn, Everton, they were our rivals. Not too long ago we were like flotsam, it seemed we were not in control of our destiny, we were poor to middling and the performance of other poor to middling clubs effected our destiny big time.
Now we have our destiny on our hands, it's a point rammed home time and again by Mancini, he hated having to hope for a result at Sunderland, he knows the mark of true winners is to keep going, it was a point of praise he had for Utd early on in the season, but he changed his mind once he saw Utd sit on a three goal lead against us and then come to the Etihad for a draw.

When you forget to frame your successes and failures objectively and start to frame them relative to others you stop being a winner and become nothing more than the last man standing, that is the reason Utd threw away their eight point lead.

Over the last couple of weeks Ferguson has been bleating to anyone who will listen and on almost every occasion he either directly or indirectly refers to us, is that a sign of strength or weakness?

In the league points means prizes, so I keep an eye on the points tally of other teams if it threatens us, but how they got those points is immaterial to me, unless a study of their tactics helps us to beat them when we meet. Otherwise the only time I take notice of other teams is when they are on the field of play against City.

I don't advocate this in life, but in football I'm a great believer in "f**k em, and forget em".
Then you are missing out on lots of enjoyment when the likes of Blackburn do them at the swamp.

No when it different leagues and when it didn't matter as we were shit.

Yes I do watch the CL group games if we aren't playing, same as I watch Chelsea or Arsenals.

They are playing away at someone is all I know and yes I'll be watching hoping we get make a gap in the first game.

As for your continued insinuation about bring a closet rag, grow up you fucking child.

Had it not been for the personal abuse I might have thought a fan of football in general with an unusual dedication to his team that extends to watching their hated rivals almost as much as his own team. But no, you're in denial lashing out at me as you confront the uncomfortable truth.
No, I just have little time for bell ends. You're the one that started the name calling with "closet rags", luckily, every other person on here thinks you are talking out of your arse. So have a good afternoon.

And so the abuse and denial continues. I had a good afternoon thank you watching the Tour de France and the Open. I think you'll find that not every other person on here agrees with you. There are a few who like me can't understand why a blue would spend as much time watching the enemy as they would watching thier own team. But to each his own, there are worse things in the world.

I don't think he's saying he watches United as much as City. He's saying he'll watch another match should City NOT be playing at the same time, whether it be United, Arsenal or Chelsea.

I certainly don't see what's hard to understand about that. As a fan of football, I'd have thought it to be fairly understandable to see why one would watch a game of football on the tv, should his own club not be playing, and if it happens to be a main rival, then surely the opportunity to watch them (hopefully) drop points is something you wouldn't pass up?

To me, your argument seems to typify a fan who seems to think they are 'a bigger blue than you' because they 'refuse' to watch United or any other rival and therefore you think your 'hate' for them comes across as stronger.

I'd have thought the majority of City fans watched both the Champs League finals where Barca mauled United, mainly because the opportunity to witness such a mauling was too much to pass up, being both a City fan AND a football fan.
