United's acclaimed strategy for expansive, considered football under Ferguson (kick and rush, leg it, get it wide scholesy quicker ffs to our runners out wide) will have simplified further still with rvp, the defence bypassing the midfield altogether. They'd be better off playing with a rugby ball.

Just said on Talkshite that Van Persie said he had a more lucrative offer to join us, but the young boy in him said join Utd.

I know he has to say things like 'the small boy inside me told me to join Utd' for the fans and Rag TV, and he can't really say 'I'm better than Chicharito, Welbeck and Berbatov, so I knew I'd get a start here, but I wasn't sure if I could get 40 starts a season ahead of Tevez or Aguero'.

However, he had a better offer to join us? Never heard that before. Does anyone on here know anything about that, or have I missed it on another thread? Does this actually tell us that Marwood was doing his job, but the one thing he couldn't do was guarantee RVP a start?

He would deffo start above Tevez. Carlos has never scored more than 30 goals in one season. RVP bagged almost 40 goals last season in a shite Arsenal side with no support. Imagine what he would do with Silva and Nasri setting him up.

I was looking at the line-ups for all the Premiership games in my paper and this was the Utd subs bench. of course this is just the reporters speculation at this stage

subs from Lindegaard, Valencia, Nani, Anderson, Berbatov, Giggs, Hernández, Welbeck, Cleverley, Powell, Macheda http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/aug/17/squad-sheets-everton-manchester-united

Where are the defenders? Three are injured. But this is the most unbalanced Utd team for years. Surely they will buy a left back. If not they are very exposed at the back.

Jones, Smalling and Evans all injured. If they don't get some back up for shaky Evra, then why did they loan Fabio to QPR?

I know they are injured, but that's not unusual - Ferdinand will spend half the season injured. They are starting a new season and they can only put out 4 fit defenders! That is risky in the extreme

even the smarter united fans think £24,000,000 is too much for 29 year old injury blighted van persie potentially costing £65,000,000 over 4 years.

just finished talking to a welsh rag mate about it. you know what they`re like, the live and breath football from the comfort of their armchair.

he said they`ve spent money they can ill afford to squander on a postion they didnt need strengthening, they should of bought a play maker in midfield (his words not mine)

Once the rag medical department get their hands on rvp then they'll be fucked.
According to someone on Talkshite yesterday they are the best medical team in the world and RVP will be well looked after!
