Should our wage bill not increase as well? What exactly are we doing with all of this cash we got from the TV deal?

Can we not start acting like spoiled children please?

Jesus, talk about ungrateful.

I don't think it's ungrateful to ask how we are using our cash. Especially as our competitors grow and there are growing questions regarding our bench. We cannot wait until next year to strengthen. Nigel de Jong will be gone, Silva has yet to resign a new contract, Tevez will likely leave in his final year, Johnson is not good enough...

We can afford to increase our wage structure and if we can't then we won't be able to hold onto our stars and thus will continually be faced with constant rebuilding comparable to the likes of Arsenal.

It's not ungrateful to see that we are not in a position to sit tight. It's not an easy market but we'll need to fight our way through. Whether it be with resigning our stars or signing young ones to replace them.

I think you are getting way ahead of yourself and ignoring some blinding obvious things that are currently taking place.

I think our owners have earned the right to be trusted without question to get things right for our club both on and off the pitch. That may not always be the case but it is certainly
how things stand right now.

Any deviation from that view is shortsighted, ungrateful and wholly wrong.

The statements you make about named players

De Jong-not said he wants to go, seems to enjoy being here. May stay.

Silva-will want a large rise to stay. Probably deserves one but if his below par form continues we have a tough choice to make.

Tevez-who can tell what that crazy fooger will do but for many reasons his stay here has overall been a huge success.

Johnson-"not good enough" is such a lazy summary. Good enough for what? To start every week-you're right but given the way we play a wide man who does little else would never be part of our starting XI most weeks.
He can knuckle down, perk up and be a role player in the best squad in England or he can do one. His choice.

I like some of your posts mate but this is beneath you.

Even houses near the Etihad are now worth more than those near the swamp!

Worth more in the sense that their actually, on average, worth around £75,000 less

Homes near the Etihad Stadium have an average price of about 79,098 pounds

Properties close to Old Trafford, less than 5 miles (8 kilometers) to the west, are valued at 154,145 pounds

Love your logic ;-)

Having been born and raised in East Manchester (Bradford then Openshaw) I can confirm that it was, and remains, a shit hole. With the exception of the new East Manchester academy (and I don't actually know how dependant on City that was) the "Etihad Campus" has done little to improve the lifestyle of many locals. You only have to take a stroll (tho a sprint may be safer) through Beswick Precinct, Openshaw Village or Clayton to see that, if Richard Leese really believes the opposite is true then he's more blinkered than I thought.

That's not to say the investment in infrastructure, such as training facilities, that City are making isn't welcome or that it won't eventually improve the area, but I really don't yet see the regeneration that the quoted article refers to.

Maybe that's because they haven't started building it yet. And, for your information, City are funding the building of the East Manchester Academy. Unlike your owners, who are taking money out of Manchester and daren't even show their faces without a police escort, ours are putting money in.

Just been sent this by a rag work colleague who already has renewed his swamp ticket. He was constantly hounded by nited to renew. He has said that that they are still texting, e-mailing and phoning to renew and has never known them so desperate.
Seems to be plenty of tickets available and they are even offering interest free credit via Zebra Finance!!
Don't nornally find Zebra's in a swamp but plenty of snakes.

Not a new thing, Utd have advertised financial products when selling season tickets for years now.

At one time you could spread the cost your ST by purchasing it on a Bank of Scotland debit card and no interest was charged provided you paid off the outstanding balance in the agreed timescale and made no other purchases with the card.

A few years later MBNA bank offered a similar facility. As well as encouraging prospective fans by offering interest free installments, I assume Utd actually get some sort of fee for each "customer" they pass on to these banks and the beauty is, Utd then face no risk - they still receive the money for the season ticket up front and the costs of any defaults are borne by the lenders....win win position for Uncle Malc n his boys..

I didn't intend to start a pissing contest along the lines of "our owners are better than yours" when replying and wasn't even having a go at City, or their investment (incidentally what on earth have Utd or the Glazers got to do with my initial reply?).

I have no problem with City's owners, or the investment they are putting into my birthplace and thought that should have been clear from my final paragraph

That's not to say the investment in infrastructure, such as training facilities, that City are making isn't welcome or that it won't eventually improve the area, but I really don't yet see the regeneration that the quoted article refers to..

If it wasn't I'll obviously have to try harder next time but I was merely taking issue with some of the quotes in that article, particularly Mr Leese making out that East Manchester has now been turned into a wonderful area to live etc...

Guess this may be another case of a post of mine being viewed with suspicion but, to clarify, no dig at City was made or intended, more of a political dig.

Ps, as I said before I didn't know how dependant on City the building of the East Manchester academy was so thanks for clearing it up for me.

Of course, isn't that their reason for existing?? Can't actually put this one down the The Glazers really do, as I said these types of arrangements have been in place at Utd for years and are actually fairly widespread throughout football.
