Looking at it logically, Moyes hasn't got a prayer of getting it right with a) the current playing squad, b) his useless bendy bum chum coaching staff and c) his own serious limitations as a manager, coach and tactician.
The only way out for the rags is for the Glazers to sanction a huge (by which I mean £150-200 million) spending spree on players. The only problems are that a) top players won't be attracted to the swamp to play for a clueless buffoon like Moyes and b) spending shitloads of money on a cash cow they rely on to bleed isn't in the Glazers' business model. They're not football people. They only care about money, not trophies. If they sack Moyes they'll presumably have to pay off whatever's left on his 6 year contract, pay big money for a top line replacement (plus new backroom staff) and sanction the funds for a major spend on the players on the new manager's shopping list. Again, this level of spend isn't in the Glazers' business model.
It all depends on whether the Glazers can keep getting away with sanctioning a relatively small (and wholly inadequate) transfer budget and still generate enough money to bleed out of the club. If things get a bit too problematical they could sell up and there'd be no shortage of oil billionaires who would snap the rags up just for the kudos. If that happens I'll await the rag hordes complaining of their club buying trophies, signing mercenary players and their owners baling out when they get bored.
In the meanwhile I'll continue to have a smug smile on my face whenever the rags' plight is mentioned.
