I think the real problem that this highlights, is that we cannot negotiate good deals. Not because we are incapable, but because if we do then everyone in football will claim we're cheating and UEFA will agree and "revalue" them. Meanwhile, everyone else is allowed to negotiate these ridiculous deals free of any scrutiny at all.
Absolute tosh.

Interesting that Nike now only really have City, Juve, Barca and PSG left out of the top European sides. We are also their only top club in the prem, so hopefully when we renew with them it will be a massive deal (though I cant see anyone other than Madrid getting close to United's).

With the Adidas & Chevrolet money they have done some great business.
*sniff*

Shirt manufacturing deals are not based off of visibility like sponsorships, they are based off of the number of shirts sold. We will get absolutely nowhere near United's deal and nor we should we. We don't sell a tenth of the shirt sales. Liverpool also have a larger kit deal than us for the same reason

This isn't entirely accurate. We're on a deal not far from the one QPR have, despite selling absolutely miles more than they do.

I think Utd sell about 5-6x what we do, maximum. Utd sold about 1.5mm, and I believe we are 250K-300K, maybe a bit more. Pool is about 800K. We're not in the top ten worldwide (YET). Nike sells near 3mm annually just between Barca and Utd. However, we're growing and should continue to grow. Another season like last from Utd and I have to believe their kit sales will begin to decline.

Just said on SSN that they get £143m per year just from Nike, Chevrolet and AON (sponsoring their training kit). Bloody hell!

Really? Despite the fact that everyone looked at our Etihad deal as dodgy and go over it with a fine tooth comb, despite being significantly less than any of our rivals deals of a similar nature? Yet United get £53m a year from Chevrolet, who don't even make cars in Europe, yet it's completely free of any investigation?

To be fair, Utd will play more matches in the USA this year than in (continental) Europe . . .

I wouldn't necessarily say that's right.

I believe we can go out and get as much as possible for a large percentage of our sponsors. The trouble starts when we negotiate with Abu Dhabi based brands such as Etihad. There are lots of racial stereotypes which automatically assumes that because our owner is from a similar region then it must be a related party therefore an inflated deal.

Funnily enough United and Liverpool don't seem to have that problem when getting deals with American based companies like Warrior and Chevrolet. Likewise neither do Chelsea with getting sponsored by Gazprom which is as allegedly as dodgy as they come.

Crazy deal. It's a good thing they have their debt and are not in Europe.

These new deals mean only 15% of their revenue will be soaked up by the debt rather than 70% before.

The Premier League is going to have 4 extremely wealthy teams capable of spending huge transfer fees every summer - City, Chelsea, United, Arsenal.

I think a new permanent 'Sky 4' type cartel could be in the making unless Liverpool manage to keep up.

Such was their sustained period of success in the Ferguson years, coupled with the explosion in popularity of English football overseas and expansion of their stadium to become the largest club ground in England, Manchester United are always going to be the team to beat. It was always going to take more than one season of underwhelming performance to destabilize foundations laid over many years. Over the last 5 seasons we have taken giant steps to catch them up but these deals are proof that there's still a long long way to go.
