Why aren't the media asking is this fair value? If that deal is 75m a year and no strings attached it's quite unbelievable that Adidas has spunked that much money on a club who are not in the champs league

This. How can the record go from 31 million to 75 million a year.
Can you imagine the outcry if we announced this
Fair point, but the whole idea of FFP is a joke and one of the worst things in the modern game. It just keeps the top teams at the top, hence why they introduced it.

'Fair Value' is down to what one company is willing to pay to another company. No one is forcing Adidas to pay the money and its up to the shareholders of Adidas to raise questions if they have a problem with it. Chevrolet did have a problem with the deal and whilst they have honoured it some executives did pay the price with their jobs if I recall. Additionally this is as much about Adidas vs Nike and the chance to for Adidas to pinch a 'valued brand' (their words) from a rival. Teams like Real will be delighted as it benchmarks future kit deals and we should be delighted as it leaves us with Nike and the chance to ramp up future kit deals with them as the 'Manchester' team.

Pretty much kerching all round...

I understand that if Nike was offering us say 30m a year they would be questions asked by the media and certain managers bleating about it..

Come on, no one understands related party deals?

If we would get 75m from Nike or Adidas /Chevrolet/Puma/bwin etc. Uefa also wouldnt question it. Simply because its not related party deal.

Even if Nike offered us instead of the 12m per year deal (its a 6 year deal runs until 2018) a 120m/year deal no one could do anything about it.

The big mistake was we did put a low value on Etihad deal which I think is a related party but they didnt change the value of it trough FFP as its still under value given that PSG's mega Qatar sponsor was cut back yet its still huge. (From 160m pounds to 80m pounds maybe while Etihad is only 35-40m.)

Also now Etihad sponsoring New York City, Melbourne City, the exact clubs that are Sheik Mansour's new clubs so its not hard to see Etihad goes and sponsors a team if Mansour wants it.:)

I can only say rags did a hell of a negotiation with this 75m/year deal and I read on top of it it could be some % of sold merchandize too. That can add another 10-20m/year easily if true.

Did we do a hell of a negotiation when Nike offered us 12m?

Or after we just won the league in May what new sponsors we gained since then? We got a few in but probably for pretty small amounts (1-2m/year.)

Can see the Glazers now.

Drinking their Manchester Utd official sponsorship champagne, keeping the bottle cold in the Manchester Utd official ice bucket, with Manchester Utd official Ice, made from real Manchester Utd official Rain water

Never got this they sell shirts in Asia thing. Only been to two countries there and all the football kits were all fucking snide.

Gave out loads of old City shirts in a village and they were fucking amazed they kept asking 'Manchester? no Bangkok?'. They couldn't believe they were legit.

If Nike no longer saw value in renewing their deal, who else was Adidas bidding with to come to such a high valuation? They didn't "take" from a rival, rival left it for trash.

One of the really odd things about the Chevrolet deal too is that the money to the rags ramps up in the 2014-15 season - in 2014 Chevrolet announced that they would not be selling cars in the UK from 2015. I know there is the Rags global reach and all that ballocks but thats even more of a reason for questions to be asked about that deal. I mean GM HQ will have known the Chevrolet brand was likely to be pulled from the UK yet all this still went through ffs !!!??

75m per year, they sell 1.5m per year (if that holds up), that's £50 on the price, even accounting for sweatshop labour I cant see the profit for Adidas other than Brand profile.
