losing out to the rags 63 million a year on a shirt deal is ridiculous. Nike must be laughing their cocks off. If I were the sheikh and id heard about this then heads would roll . Either we've been dry bummed by Nike or the rags have a much better commercial department than us. I mean they even close a huge sponsorship deal with a company that cant even sell cars in this country. In the new world of ffp then we have scored an own goal.

I think there is more than meets the eye with this deal. Any word of the percentage of sales Adidas gets, and the fine prints?

People will eventually have to wake up to this FFP bollox, when the rags are signing deals like this then everyone is at a disadvantage, i'm not complaining about it as it's the nature of the beast but surely people can see that the only way to compete is by having a wealthy owner pumping money in. This is why they want to stop it.

Football is corrupt and anyone who thinks otherwise is deluded.

If they ever do wake up it will be too late. FFP is so blatantly corrupt it's incredible, and people who think we will ever surpass them in revenue any time soon are living in cuckoo land, where everything is tinted blue.

It won't be soon, but once money comes in from the £1bill housing plan and the leisure destination/Etihad Campus, we won't be far behind.

Yes we'll never match their kit and sponsorship deals, but our owners will find other ways to boost our revenue and income.

Unlike the Glazers, Shiekh Mansour has the money up front to invest in money making projects.

The Glazers and Manchester United can't compete with this. These guys will maximize City's earnings and investment potential.

The problem United are now facing is that they are moving away from the model they have been banging on about for the last 20 years. All of the propaganda and myth's about the 'United way' are quickly being replaced by a more modern outlook.

They are the first club to bang on about manager stability and giving him time but they got rid of Moyes.

They are the first club to bang on about giving a British manager a chance but they got Van Gaal.

They are the first club to bang on about signing English players but they seem to be going for a lot of foreign players.

They are the first club to moan about inflated transfer fees and wages but they are now the biggest spenders (even though they have always spent money)

They are the first club to talk about their academy but aside from Jizz Jazz (who they poached from another academy) there are not many promising youngsters in their team.

The fact is they are moving away from the team they pride themselves on being. Whilst this will ultimately bring them short term rewards, it will damage the identity of the club in the long run.

Even more worrying for them is the fact that we are directly in their spotlight and are moving towards the model they pride themselves on being. We are the team with a stable backroom team (using the DoF model). We are also a team trying to start a footballing identity playing fast attacking football. We are also the team investing heavily in youth and the fact many of United's players have their son's in our academy shows we are doing something right.

The way I see it, United are in a position where we were 5 years ago. They have the money to spend but are looking for the fast fix rather than a long term solution. Perhaps FFP will make them be able to outspend everyone and this is their new long term solution. However, whilst they may make the most money that does not mean other clubs do not make money. Our revenues will allow us to compete for which ever players we want whilst bringing through our own.

I just hope this shift in ideology gets noticed and United receive the same flak we have over the years. However, I won't hold my breath.

I fully agree that this highlights the total hypocrisy and corruption surrounding FFP. The status quo of the biggest clubs has been completely secured by this ''fair play'' bullshit which is why, of course, the Rumennigges and Gills of this world pushed so much for it. Thank God we are now at least a player in amongst the Bayerns and Madrids of this world but, sadly, there is almost no chance of any other supposedly lesser clubs being able to really compete in the future.

This is what really irritates me the most. FFP really will be the death of football as we know it and a European closed shop league made up of all the cozy cartel teams will happen. We might be in it but it will also be the time I give up on football.

It's fair to say they really brainwashed........

The 92-93 or 98-99 season? For me it is.

A proven World Class manager has just been appointed

A huge deal with Adidas (who's kits I personally love!) has just been announced

FFP means that sugar daddy clubs will only be able to spend within their means whilst 'proper' clubs like ourselves and Arsenal will prosper

A likely change to our philosophy of play. A move away from 4-4-2 to a 4-3-3, playing like our European counterparts

Possibly expanding the singing section at Old Trafford to raise atmosphere.

Some might feel that this doesn't warrant a thread but I'm personally excited as a pig in shite at the minute. I really do think we've got exciting stuff to look forward to again and Woodward seems to be getting stuff done behind the scenes, effectively and quietly

Can anyone on here explain to me what a proper club is?

Some more gems from Red Café.

Are we truly developing young Utd talent anymore for first team?

I'm finding it increasingly frustrating that we like many of the big clubs are buying young talent before someone else does and then simply loaning them out or parking them in another country. These young players development end up going backwards. I cant say that even Jones or Smalling's games have developed being in the squad, and even though we now without our 2 most experienced CB's, not sure we are not going to buy players to replace them anyway.
I know Shaw is an outstanding prospect but surely we could have been a couple of years ago developing or bought in a young left back to have been guided by Evra without paying 30m?

Same about the Felliani signing. Is someone suggesting we've not got a young CM that could have offered more without having to pay the 27m for him?

Then there's Powell, is there much point loaning him out again? Where we gonna play him if he stays? Theres Mata, Kags, Rooney and who else we may sign already in front of him.

When theses players go on loan, they are sometimes hardly played or played out of position. Cant see how this is developing their games?

Irrespective of peoples views, who's idea was it to send Zaha to a club with a crazy chairman, an inexperienced manager and a club that was always going to be struggling down the bottom where a player like him was going to be seen as a luxury?

Most of the times, these players come back worse than before they left.....

We're obviously not. It has to do with being in the sugar daddy era. We can't maintain the old youth centric policy when clubs like City, PSG, Monaco, Chelsea, along with Madrid, Barca, and Bayern are basically buying their way to success. Its causing us to do the same, at the expense of long term youth development. Some don't like to face this reality, but it is what it is, and is not going to reverse itself as long as big money owners continue to buy clubs, replete with big name transfers and high wages; which in turn is forcing us to keep up, undoubtedly at the expense of youth players.

That's right, all those clubs have forced United to into big name transfers and high wages. Honest to God, I can't believe some of he s*** written on there.

Go on then, tell us about Wayne Rooney, How much did he cost from Everton, how many pay rises has he had, and how much is he on now a week?

If United fans had any idea about their clubs history then they would not spout such nonsense.
