I am personally expecting them to destroy Arrys boys this weekend quite comfortably.
If they don't get top 4 I will seriously piss my sides.
Any idea if our revenue will ever surpass these cunts?
A ready made wind up for this game.
'Im predicting an upset here and that united will win'.
You'll catch a few with that.

The really important number I have not seen mentioned anywhere (for 2013-2014 actuals and next year's forecast) is net profit as this is the true measure of long term viability for any business but particularly for a quoted company. EBITDA is a profitability performance indicator but crucially does not - as the name suggests - take any account of tax or depreciation and amortisation of player contracts which will be highly significant for 2013-2014 and of course given the "massive" signings of this summer - even more so for the current financial year. Apologies if this has been mentioned somewhere and I have missed it but all the press releases I have seen today seem to bury this highly important statistic. This fact should not surprise anyone.
An acid test for any publicly traded business in the long term is the performance of the company's share price. Interestingly the shares I believe are down about 13% since July and I see are down a further 3% today based on their press release. Another 2% drop would take the share price to a 20 month low. The market is getting nervous - tick tock.
Apologies, Just re-read one of the press releases and key net profit figure is given but is down 84% to £24 million. Should get extremely interesting if they don't make chumps league this year then with the additional amortisation of their expensive acquisitions and their projected decrease in revenue.

£24m is about their standard profit, they booked a £155m tax credit last year. Next year accounts, even with the additional commerical revenues, will likely make horrible reading. Fail to not qualify outright for CL this season will make this summers investment look ill thought out shaking investor convidence further, if they look like they will fail to qualify at all as the season progresses there won't be anything other than sell recommendations on the street. They need this 3rd to be looking obtainable, if they are languishing in the table come christmas things are going to get very uncomfortable.

Over to the turtle, don't let us down.

Maybe another Leeds/Portsmouth in the making ;-)

But that can't happen now with Platini's new FFP rules. Can it?

We're getting there fast.
United's turnover next year expected to be £385m
Our turnover this year should be around £ 320m,next year £370m.

They should be winning the league for the money they've spent. Talk of them not finishing in the top 4 is unrealistic

Last 4 years net spending
Utd: Between 270m and 350m
City: Between 90m and 120m
Can you see them finishing above City, Chelsea, Arsenal or Liverpool?

Stability and spending should produce results, but if they make the wrong managerial aoppointments and panic then they could mess it up

They still need defenders.

I can definitely see them finishing above Arsenal and Liverpool. I think they will challenge for the title - they should do. Their defense might not be great but the main thing holding them back atm is LVG and his 3/5 at the back.
When they change to

-----------------De Gea
Rafael------Jones----Rojo----Shaw
---------------Herrera--Blind
Di Maria---Rooney/Mata---Januzaj
------------Falcao/RVP/Rooney

or a City-eque
-----------------De Gea
Rafael------Jones----Rojo----Shaw
---------------Herrera--Blind
-----------Mata------------Di Maria
---------------Falcao---Rooney

they should have enough to mount a title challenge.

They only have the League to concentrate on. That defense is as good or as bad as Liverpool's was last year

or Liverpool-esque - it would utilize their new signings very well:

-----------------De Gea
Rafael------Jones----Rojo----Shaw
---------------------Blind--------------------
---------------Herrera--Di Maria------
--------------------Mata------------------
---------------Falcao---Persie----------

That defense though is a bit weak. Not enough for a title challenge, but without europe and now the league cup their attacking players should have enough energy to do a liverpool.

but honestly though I still think regardless of their formation they will take time to develop chemistry. It just doesn't happen overnight. Last season none of Liverpool's new signings had any impact on their season, it was the players who had been at the club for over 6 months or so. if the rags are more than 10 points off top 4 at christmas at best they would finish 3rd. And their defense is injury prone too, and question marks over the fitness of both Falcao and van persie.

Hold on a minute. Those teams contain only 3 Englishmen, maximum, and no "homegrown"... They'll never field those teams.

It's not "The united Way".

How do I start a new thread, because what I'm about to say deserves a thread of it's own, basically I believe Sir Alex Ferguson should be stripped of his knighthood.

Let me explain, I just read a small piece in my paper - where Nicky Butt claims SaF made him pull out of England friendlies. There was no attempt to say injury was to blame, he was just told: "You have an England friendly coming up, and you're not going". Now I'm not saying England would have won something between '92 and '04 (when Butt was a player), but it would surely have helped the manager build a team, without this type of sh1t going on behind the scenes. Sir Bobby Charlton I get, Sir Geoff Hurst ditto, but why the f*ck is there a SIR Alex Ferguson???

P.S. If Scotland vote 'Yes' next week, can we deport him?

P.P.S. I actually came online to put this on Rag Cafe, but they have banned me, yet again: serious sense of humour issues over there.

Make seven more posts and the world's your oyster.

Actually, a more pertinent question would be, why wasn't there a Sir Brian Clough, a Sir Bill Shankley, a Sir Bob Paisley, a Sir Tony Barton or a Sir Jock Stein?

Busby and GPC won the European Cup / Champions' League, and the establishment couldn't give them a knighthood fast enough, and yet no other British manager has been afforded this honour.

Why?

Get your point but Shankly didn't win the European Cup....
