To suggest that Ferguson didn't have sufficient force of personality or intelligence to be a top manager is stretching credibility somewhat.

I think his record at Aberdeen completely undermines the point you are trying to make.

I know for an absolute fact that the Robins/sacking myth is completely untrue.

well lets hear the great insight you have regarding robins goal at forest saving the GPC's job
Maybe, if you'd asked more nicely I might have been better disposed to reveal a bit of leg.

no chance , unless you won the butlins nobbly knees contest at least a dozen times , i am not interested

Seriously, go and have a look at GPC'c record at Aberdeen before he took over at the Swamp. Just read about his achievements in breaking up the Rangers/Celtic stranglehold. Oh, and Scottish football wasn't a joke back then either.

this.

say what you like about the old c**t but he was an awesome manager.

No he wasn't an awesome manager at all... his/utd's success was based on his ability to manipulate and bully everyone involved in the game, including his own players, rather than him being any kind of tactical genius.
Plus the mythical aura that was built up around the glorious Man U for so long that meant star struck opponents didn't even try to give them a game and fawning refs were falling over them selves to award them every advantage possible.

some people would consider this attribute being part of a great manager , others would regard it as being complete c*nt , its all about opinions , the latter applies to me.

To be fair, that's still a talent.

I've read some nonsense on here, over the years but, the suggestion that Sour Alex wasn't a great manager is ludicrous.
Horribly self-serving human being, as far as I can make out (without having met him, admittedly) but there's no denying his achievements as a manager.

i now just refuse point blank to discuss anything football related to any rag fucker, i cant help but feel anything other than a deep routed contempt for the twunts.

I've just read this pile of bollocks on ESPN:

United showing Shaw the world-class way, says Southgate

Shaw has discovered what it takes to become a 'world class' player after training alongside the likes of Radamel Falcao and Angel Di Maria at Manchester United.
After a difficult start to his Old Trafford career, Shaw will quickly step up to the elite level because of the quality of his team-mates, according to England Under-21 manager Gareth Southgate.
Shaw dropped down from the senior England squad for the Under-21's Euro qualifier against Croatia on Tuesday after receiving criticism for a lack of form and fitness earlier this season.

Southgate however, insisted that Shaw's £27 million summer move to United from Southampton will improve his game.
"I think what he now has is a recognition of what 'world class' looks like," Southgate said. "He might have had an idea of what he thought it was before, but training at Manchester United with the likes of Radamel Falcao and Angel Di Maria has given him a full understanding of the concept now.
"He would have known there was a level, but now he knows there is a level above that.
"He was able to share those stories among our lads in the U21s because all players at times in their careers think they are nearly there - and then you discover you still have a bit of a way to go.
"You continually have to strive to be better than you are and Luke realises that now."
Shaw was part of the Under-21s side that defeated Croatia 4-2 on aggregate to qualify for Euro 2015 and there have been suggestions that other youngsters from the senior squad could drop down to boost Southgate's side for the Championship in the Czech Republic.
The likes of Jack Wilshere, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Raheem Sterling are all eligible to appear for the Under-21s, while defender Calum Chambers would have played for them on Tuesday had England's senior right-back John Stones not picked up an ankle injury.
While Under-21 captain Jack Butland welcomed the prospect of receiving help from above, he warned any players dropping down that they should not expect any preferential treatment.
"That is why it is good being a player not a manager picking this squad," Butland said. "We have a fantastic amount of talent in this 22 of players. We have had players who have gone up and come down. Luke has come down and it is like he never left.
"We are confident whoever it is, we will get on really well. We will welcome anyone in. First of all we have to continue play the way we do. If people come down from the seniors it doesn't mean they run things. Everyone works for their position. That is the mentality we have had.
"Everyone fights for their place so they deserve it. We have to keep that next summer. We have got to carry that forward now to the bigger stage in the summer. Losing and going out was not an option because we have too much talent. Now we need some really tough friendlies.
"Playing against teams who will push us to the limit. We might lose. But we have got to learn to play against the top teams. We might beat them. That is the only way we will be prepared for the finals next summer. Then we will assess where we are at."

Could have saved themselves a lot of ink and just said, "the road to the Etihad - Joe Mercer Way."

Of course Fergusson was a good manager, but there are lots of good managers.

He found his comfort zone at Utd. He had moe money than anyone else, was able to bully the establishment and generally have it all his own way

Mouinho, Carlo A, Wenger, Lippi, Cappelo etc all did it/are doing it all over the world.

Fergusson did well at Aberdeen but that was 30yrs ago. I'd have much more recpect(wouldn't be hard) for him if he did it in modern day Spain, Italy, Germany or even with the national team

Haha. There's some merit in that.

I've just finished reading the Times' resident rag and his thoughts on Van Gaal's season so far. It's amazing that the guy is being given so much generous and fulsome praise when his team have performed for 80% of the time they've been on the pitch like a relegation threatened bunch of Sunday league footballers.

''If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it people will eventually believe you''

Booby Charlton

"If you peddle enough dodgy head gear, brainless outbursts and have played for the rags, eventually you will be offered a post driving the future of football."

Wio.

Thank god at least for that last criterion, otherwise it would be a shoe-in for any Frenchman putting himself up for it.

...waaaaaiiiiit a minuuuute!!?!
