75 mill, I can't stop laughing. Real Madrid must be laughing there bollocks off. He's a decent player 20-30 mill at best. But 75 million LMFAO.
He will get knocked from pillar to post in most games, he's not built for the prem.

How many rags will admit to buying the league remarks!!!!

Biggest bunch of hypocritical bastards I've ever come across.

This summer above any has shown up what FFP is all geared for. I hope the powers that be will look at it and make them even more determined to dominate,if that is even possible. I would honestly feel ashamed of City if they had collaborated with the cartel to shut other great clubs out just to preserve themselves. It's pathetic and embarrassing.

Well, on the plus side they're not in the position to benefit from this collaboration. They've got Woodward who looks woeful and have spunked nearly 250 mill ( if DM goes through ) on players they either don't need or haven't been successful. It's hilarious viewing and they can't keep on spending like this.

Angel di Maria agrees to join Manchester United in £60m deal - after City said no
Aug 23, 2014 22:30 By Simon Mullock

The Citizens were put off by Real Madrid's high demands, but United weren't and will complete a British record deal for the winger

Angel di Maria will join Manchester United in a British record transfer - after rivals Manchester City turned down the chance to sign him.

Sunday Mirror Sport can reveal that United will pay Real Madrid £60million for the Argentina winger.

And they have also agreed to stump up another £7m in add-ons.

The deal will shatter the current British record of £50m paid by Chelsea to Liverpool in January 2011 for Fernando Torres.

United manager Louis van Gaal put Di Maria at the top of his wish list when he name-checked the 26-year-old in an interview with Sunday Mirror Sport earlier this month.

He is the big-name signing that United fans have craved. But they will be devastated to hear that Di Maria's advisers contacted City after the Would Cup to gauge their interest.

The winger wanted to link up at the Etihad with international team-mates Pablo Zabaleta and Sergio Aguero.

But City said they weren't interested.

A senior City source confirmed: "We were approached about the possibility of signing Di Maria. he made it clear he wanted to come here. The deal offered was €75million with another €10m in add-ons. But we were not interested in making it happen.

United, desperate to deliver a stellar name for Van Gaal, haven't been put off.

Woodward was locked in talks with Madrid after the price was set by the European champions.

Di maria has told friends in Spain that he has accepted a £180,000-a-week offer from the Reds.

And he has made it clear he wants the number 7 shirt at Old Trafford.

bwaaaahahahahahahhahahaha

The last few years really have been truly beautiful. We will be the envy of future City fans for generations for getting to live through this meteoric rise.

And more so those of us who were at Wembley on 30/5/99 AND Etihad on 13/5/12.

For quite a long time I was convinced that Gillingham was going to be the highlight of my City supporting career. Thank god for Sergio Aguero.

Number of times City have been involved in a deal to break the British transfer record: 3
Number of times united have been involved in a deal to break the British transfer record: 9

None of those deals could be described as 'following the market', as such, by definition.

If united sign Di Maria and utterly smash the transfer fee record spent by a British club, to describe it along those terms is utterly dishonest or stupid.

It always made me chuckle when Taggart used to moan about 'no value in the market' after accepting £80 million for Ronaldo, like his club was somehow extraneous to the process relating to the price of footballers around that time

Would those three be: Steve Daley, Robinho, and Sergio Agüero?
Two out of three Vienna. Not Sergio, but another thorn in united's side (albeit once): Denis Law when we sold him to Torino.

Thanks, GDM.

As I was typing it, I was questioning whether it was Kun, but I didn't think about the Lawman at all.

Hopefully Ocean Finance make the funds available for them.........and all the wages for all their world superstars.
Another season or so like the last one will see all the wheels coming off.

united are slowly morphing into us six years ago. Having to pay over the odds to clubs who see them coming a mile off and then having to pay a premium on the wages because they've got no Champions League.

It's like watching a footballing version of Benjamin Button.

There's still the romance of playing for united, though. That'll never change.

hopefully van Butthead is as useless as Mark Hughes.

A role reversal, where we signed Robinho they are now signing Di Maria quiet funny really.

He will no doubt give the club a lift but probably only to 5th. :-)

Of course they can, just been told they are spending their "own money", unlike us.

Could have sworn i read on here that they made 25 mill profit last season and have 35 mill in the bank, how do you buy 250 mills worth of players, with only 60 mill?

I'm sure I read something that with their interest payments they don't actually make that much profit, surely a deal like this means they're fucked if they don't get champions league, what with the sponsorship Clauses etc
