I've just checked and they weren't touring but fans were sceptical of his attendance as he claimed it was a Friday night game. Now I know I was wankered at that match (as I was at most games back then) but it was a Saturday 3pm kick-off

Yeah, I think it was a City fan that did a bit of digging and found that Ronnie was actually captaining Essex away to Leicestershire in a County Championship match on the very same day. And saying you got your matches mixed up is downright laughable.

The fact that he claimed to vividly remember little details about the Keane on Haaland tackle proves he can't have got his matches mixed up.
