United thread 2018/19

I'm going to have to make an appointment to see my GP. For some reason I'm walking about with a spring in my step. I have a smile seemingly etched onto my face, and I'm generally behaving like Scrooge on Christmas morning, after his ghostly visitations had made an impression on him.
I want to shake people by the hand and doff my cap in the direction of any passing ladies. I want to make 'cooing' noises to babies in their prams, and fuss over people's dogs in the street. I want to fill the world with joy unbound whilst shedding a lone, melancholy tear when singing Louis Armstrong's: 'What a Wonderful World'.

I wonder what my GP will diagnose?

Pre-season Liverpool-itis?

I’d say that they can forget any chance of catching us, Liverpool and Chelsea now, barring one of those really screwing up badly. So they’ve got to set their sights on catching Spurs & Arsenal, who are just 5 points ahead of them. That's do-able but they've got to make a decision as to whether another manager would have more chance of doing that than Peg has. I reckon they'll probably stick with him for a few more weeks then see where they are. If they're out of touch with the top 4 in November then he'll go I reckon. Even if they've given up on top 4 at that point they'll at least give another manager a few months to work with the squad and hope they'll hit the ground running next season.
I suppose the pertinent question is what available managers are presently out there who play an expansive, expressive style of football? All lovely conundrums to laugh at from afar.

When the eye-gouging twat was sacked by Chelsea, didn’t the performances and results improve immediately?

That’s my recollection anyway.

Everyone knew Chelsea had a good side that just didn't want to play for the manager. United are just shite full stop. They kinda remind me of Brexit in a way. They have the backing of the officials, all the way to the top like the remain campaign had ie the press, banks, big business, and still lost because the EU is shite. Sorry to go off topic :)

They'll keep the gouger. It's a well known fact United are stronger in the second half of the season. Just like the fact Jose wins the league in his second season.

Potential scenario

Getting kicked out of CL early, not doing well in EL
Missing out on CL ( and EL) for 19/20
No cup runs
Reduced PL TV games this year
Massive wages bill
Many players into last year of contracts, wanting parity/increases
Massively increased previous transfer payments still owed
Manager sacking payoff
Commercial revenue growth stalled
Match day income further declined
no nvestment in club infrastructure
Dividends still shipped to Virgin/cayman Islands

Leeds/Portsmouth ? Or too big to fail...
They won't be allowed to fail. Scudamore admitted as much years ago.

Remember how the PL bent over backwards to delay points deduction for the dippers when they nearly went bust?

The leave campaign was based on lies.
