Not sure if it’s worse for United if they keep Pogba, or let him go. For all his faults, he’s still their best player so losing him would undoubtedly weaken their squad. On the other hand, if he stays he could become an even more disruptive influence in the dressing room. It’s pretty much a win-win scenario.

His nostalgic view of a United that no longer exists does them no favours. They need a manager who is looking to the future, not constantly harping on about the past.

Oh dear, just taken a peak at RagCafe and some of the thread titles don't make for cheerful reading:

"Thinking the unthinkable - not interested in football any more"
"There's nothing I like about this United team at all"
"Pogba is the epitome of the complete footballing coward"
(locked - too many other Pogba threads apparently)
"United's biggest problem - our spoiled and overly entitled fan base"

Just spent 3 days away. 4 of us blues, 3 rags.

We do generally avoid football talk but we did get on to ‘Ole’.
The only reason they could come up with that he is the right manager for united is that, “He gets the club”.

I dont even know what that means, and they couldnt really explain either !!

I look forward to them finishing out of the top 6 next season. Thats my bet

It would be like us having Paul Dickov as manager for the same reasons. Similar managerial expertise to be fair

But that's exactly what Solskjaer was brought in for. He's an errand boy for the owner who want him to peddle this bullshit that United are still the world's biggest draw.

It's actually better than peak Moyes.

Can't understand how, if they sell Pogbad, they will get more than they paid for him?? Have these clubs not seen how he has stunk the place out over the last year? Or is this all agent speak to try to get someone to buy him?

Good point and something I was thinking recently. He has the potential to be world class in his footballing ability, but his inconsistency means he's nowhere near fulfilling is potential to be established as world class. The 150m or so fee needed to sign him is ridiculous. Pogba reminds me so much of Balotelli, and if he doesn't start to show next season he is the real deal and not just a very expensive enigma for the rags, or whoever is foolish enough to sign him, then he too may be looking to find any decent club that is willing to gamble on signing a several chance failed loon ball for free in a few years, just like Mario is now.

The longer he stays at United the longer he can get away with the same old excuses - if he leaves he will have to do the business

Bale helped Real Madrid win 3 Champions Leagues and they want to see the back of him due to a bit of bad form - I can’t see them giving Pogba much time. He doesn’t do anywhere near enough

On another note, Martial. How long before people realise he’s never gonna be what they said he would be? He’s been there 4 years and is now on his 3rd Manager. No doubt he’ll have a good 6 weeks at some point and they’ll give him a new contract!

His price isn't down to purely his footballing ability and ouput, no way. Unfortunately it does seem to heavily factor in hype, star power, marketing, etc.

In terms of performance he isn't fit to shine the shoes of Merlin, Bernardo, or KDB. Massive downhill skier and when things aren't going his way his attitude and mentality are horrible.

I'd be delighted if he stays - make of that what you will.......... :-)

I was wondering this, I think it is a combination of a perception that he is a good player who united are not getting the best out of and very recent transfer fee inflation.

Most rags I know have gone from thinking Pogba will fullfil his potential to conceding he's just a fancy show pony.

They have an expensive squad assembled by 5 different managers, yet they are still in transition and a mess getting messier. Fuck 'em; )

They could really improve their squad by getting rid of his influence and selling him, providing they then invest the proceeds wisely.

Thankfully we all know that they aren't smart enough for that and jolly old Ed Woodwood will probably splash it on two championship level players and a foreigner who doesn't want to be there. A club with more competent people at the heml would definitely use it as a key opportunity to turn things around though.
