And i'd still love to win it.
Getting top four is for the accountants, imo , you either win trophies or you don't.
The only worthwhile place in the top four is top
It was worthwhile for both Liverpool and Chelsea because they have both won the CL twice without being PL champions the season before. United have won the CL 3 times, twice having won the First Division/PL and once whe Arsenal won the league season before.

If we are to win the CL this season then we'll have won it as champions, just like all the winners who won the European Cup being champions in their respective leagues before the CL was formed.

I would much rather win the Europa league than capitulate yet again in the CL, people can call it a consolation or a thursday night cup all they want but i personally would love to see a City player hold aloft that trophy.
The disdain shown by some fans in this country towards the ‘lesser’ of the major trophies is simply stupid behaviour. The ‘it’s a Micky Mouse trophy anyway’ crowd within every set of fans used to either mock other clubs for being in it or after they’ve been knocked out makes people look daft. The FA Cup, EFL Cup and Europa League are all cracking trophies to win. The Europa League would stand proudly in our trophy room if we ever won it as just our second ever piece of European silverware.

Christ look at Roma fans and players and Mourinho after they won the Europa Conference last season. They were buzzing with hundreds of thousands of their fans out for the parade.

City haven’t even won the UEFA Cup/Europa League in our history, never mind the Champions League, and we mock other teams because they’re in that competition? That’s not right for me. Playing in and never winning a competition like us in the CL gives us no real brag over anyone about the Europa League. If we’d won both of those trophies maybe we’d have an argument but since we haven’t it makes us look a bit silly.

United fans used to do exactly the same thing; singing ‘Thursday nights on Channel 5’ at clubs because they were in the UEFA Cup/Europa League. How silly do their fans look now they’re buzzing they’ve won in the Ro32 in that very same competition?

And it’s likely that after Pep leaves, we will be overtaken in the league and we might not qualify for the CL every season like we do now and could have a number of years in the next few decades in the Europa League and I hope we go on to win it every season we find ourselves in it.

I am not going to get my head turned by the media that love The Shits. I don't think The Shits will win the league. They are having a good run at the moment and getting the rub of the green. This will change. If I am wrong, I will put the maracas away and sit in a darkened room for a thousand years.
The thing is, that run and rub of the green they're on has nothing to do with the actual rub of the green / luck ... its the sort of 'luck' that only runs out when a bald, ex south Yorkshire police officer decides it will.

We won the cup winners' cup in 1970. You should know that mate, even if it was before you were born.

Of course I know that, that’s why I said ‘if we ever won it as just our second ever piece of European silverware’.

We never won the UEFA Cup though and haven’t won the Europa League.

The European Cup Winners’ Cup was scrapped (Lazio were the final ever winners of it) and all domestic Cup winners just went into the UEFA Cup instead.

Reading some of the articles about Ten Haag and Utd this morning you'd think they'd just beat prime Barca to get to the CL final.
They're writing as though this was Champions League football. Don't get me wrong it was Barca but how much would barca have been up for this cup anyway I'm not sure?

There fans are rightly buzzing right now, I would be after years if that shite. But they're 3rd, and they're in the Euefa Cup.

If rangers or celtic were in this cup no one would give a fuck how far they got. But because its utd this means they're verging in the being classed as the greatest team ever.
