Took me a minute but I got there. Very good.

It's an absolute non-starter, that kind of argument. The rags could argue on that basis that they “won” the second half in the derby at the Etihad earlier this season. A number of deluded Liverpool fans (yeah, ok, deluded + Liverpool might be considered to be a piece of tautology) seriously argued that they were holding their own against us until Mané was sent off in September 2017 when we slaughtered them. Except that they weren't — they were losing 1-0.

Apply that theory to the second leg of the Real Madrid game for us last season. city did everything up to the last few minutes of the game then went to pieces and got done in extra time. If you don’t take your chances, you get punished. Liverpool scored 7 goals out of their 8 shots on target yesterday. That’s clinical stuff.

Neville kept saying Liverpool didn't play that well. Loved the closing comment from Dalglish's daughter at the end of yesterday's show when she said Liverpool won 7-0 despite not playing well. It bought howls of laughter from Souness & Carrafher.

I would actually take that last point further as some dippers reckoned they would have WON if Mane had not been head butted in the foot by Eddie.
