The newspapers will still bang on about their second, third, fourth, twentieth coming. 10 years from now when they are in a relegation battle to survive in league one with Derby or Rotherham Neville will be in a padded cell tweeting about how city aren't a big club. McTominey will be announced as the new manager as he knows the dna of the club. United will be six billion in debt, the Glazers will have increased their dividend to 50m, fans will still be protesting and some businesses man in China will be a billionaire for selling green and gold scarfs.
 
Got a Matic feel about this. Great for his previous club but they happily got rid of him to united just as he was getting past his best.

They can when they really want to. The highest paid players of all time have been in La Liga (CR & Messi) and they can offer the mediterranean lifestyle, guaranteed CL football and titles at RM. The reality here is that RM are cashing in on an offer way above his true value. And the DM position is one you can fill without much hassle - if we were ta;king about a decent attacking player RM would easily match the wages Rags would offer and add everything else in the mix and that is how they keep their best players.

Yeah, but he can actually cover their shite defence, so he's a huge improvement over what they have now.

But yeah, a sign of the short-term thinking that their manager is forced into. He knows he won't be given time to build a team, so he has to resort to spending Rodri levels of money on a 30 year old.
