Another desperate signing.

Chases a deep-lying playmaker type holding midfielder all summer in De Jong.
Ends up with Casemiro who is every bit the opposite way when it comes to DMs.
This is the United way.

He's a good player but he's everything United should be avoiding and just shows how badly run they are.

Why spend £60 million on a player with a limited shelf life left and zero value at the end of his contract? If United were on the cusp of winning something and he's the final addition, it makes sense, but they're not, they need an entirely new squad and even if things go perfect for them, by the time they become even remotely competitive again, his time will be up.

They're spending a shit load and getting nowhere. They should be spending that on a highly thought of younger player they can build a midfield around not somebody on the way down. He's just another Matic a few years on. It's hilarious how they continue to make the same errors. Long may it continue.

And what's even funnier is I expect the United fans to lap it up, just like they did with Ronaldo and Sancho and all the others.

Friend of mine, was a good footballer and a very rare rational rag said to me, ‘did we learn nothing from Schweinsteiger’.

Most I know hate Neville and don’t blame the Glazers really. Not about money but about incompetence really.

Not many players playing significant minutes in midfield into their mid-thirties.

Bear in mind they're making him a Top 5-10 earner in the league (having never played in the league) until he's 34/35 years old.

I know De Bruyne meets all the criteria (apart from he has played in this league) but we'll be saving his legs for the big moments over the next few years with rotation. They have McTominay to come in for Casemiro.
One problem for them is that their only realistic chance of CL qualification is by winning the Europa so Casemiro, Eriksen and any other half decent 30+ players they may sign are going to be on the three games a week treadmill for most of the season.

Their biggest problem is that they still think they are a top 6/7/8/9/10 side and try to play like it. They are down amongst the dead men and should start playing like regular relegation candidates, playing 5-4-1 or 6-4-0
If they adapt their game now, 17th is achievable.

They end up getting players in their Autumn years, Matic was a decent midfield destroyer in his time at Chelsea but there was a reason they let him go when they did. This guy from Madrid has he been talking to Varane about how you get a massive payday however bad it gets at the swamp?
