Just came across this:
I know it is 3 years old and I know it is the Sun newspaper, however it is an official pole and is quite interesting. The rags have nearly a million more fans in London than in Manchester, in fact City and the dippers also have more fans in the capital (although not as extreme). The other interesting thing is how many city fans there are, our numbers are growing (and will definitely be bigger now than then) and very comparable to other big 6 clubs - kind of kills the “no fans” gibe they like to throw at us and confirm a lot of what we really know about ourselves and others.
I had to laugh at these figures. Greater Manchesters population is 2.8 mill(2019) so they're saying Rags have half?(remember how many people don't like football) What a load of bollocks! And the fact we have a similar support in London as Spurs is laughable! Even with the Haaland factor and treble win. There is no way on earth Spurs only have just over 650k,especially if they're putting Rags at 2.18. What children write this shite ? It's just bollocks pulled out of thin air that's just there to make the red shites look huge and better than the mere mortals.

I did. It was quite funny because I was a really shy kid but I just ran up and blurted it out. I then realised I had no paper or pen. One was found and my uncle procured a piece of paper from his ripped up cig packet and he signed it. My uncle kept it as I had no interest because I was a City fan and he played for United. I wonder if he still has it.
Find it, probably worth a bit as there's so few in existence.

diff is we absolutely battered them, their keeper had a worldie, we missed a pen and they scored off one of their 2 attacks, and when they did we switched on and went and won, they were actually outplayed by them
Plus two ‘goals’ ruled out.

I've posted this in the Bobby Charlton thread, but it probably should belong in here, and I'm genuinely interested in our responses to my question.

We've been singing the "jelly and ice cream" song for years. Thousands of impressionable young blues will have heard thousands of older blues singing that song, thousands of times. They will have heard dad's sing it, mum's sing it, brothers, peers, uncle Tom Cobley and all sing it. Drummed into them from an early age, accepted as harmless "bants" without any thought as to the inevitability of it happening.

So, we have a problem here Blues.

If we're calling out and reporting fellow Blues over a couple of misguided Charlton chants, God only knows what will happen when the GPC finally moves on. We'll have more banning orders than SC holders.

We'll have a 1000 page thread with Blue on Blue rows, hand-wringing off the scale, 18-25 group blame, ban hammers, a general shitshow. Older Blues ashamed by the chant, despite the fact they've probably all sang it on every away concourse across the land, as I have..on many an occasion.

There will be totally justified grief across in Trafford, but the grief amongst us Blues will be just as unpleasant.

So, I have a simple question. The next time you hear the "jelly and ice cream" song will you join in?
No, never have done. Though in my younger days I did sing distasteful Munich songs., but not heard any Munich references for many years I’m glad to say

Unfortunately these twats ride their luck for season, after season, after season.

Their ability and performances for years now should have seen them doing no better than mid-table at best, yet they still keep scraping enough narrow, undeserved wins to keep them in the top 6.
With the key support of PGMOL to keep them relevant.

They're not going to get transformational money into the team or into the stadium then. They will have high levels of debt with high interest rates. The current owners will demand a significant dividend every year. Sky and far east broadcasters will eventually realise there's no return in showing games from the period they were relevant, as it's so far in the past and the footy was primitive and in low definition, so their worldwide fan base will dwindle. Happy days.
Keep going I'm reaching the vinegars

If we are talking about distasteful, inflammatory songs and chants I've not noticed any outrage about united fans singing 'My Old Man' week in week out for decades now, which makes reference to attacking City fans "With hatchets and hammers, stanley knives and spanners"

If anyone is outraged by a bunch of footy fans singing distasteful songs I'm not sure they understand the culture...

I like Punk music but I think Frigging in the Rigging is an health and safety nightmare and those Pistol Chaps should be thrashed
