Done some quick research The issue at Piccadilly is the outer platforms which carry the through traffic including the freight trains to Trafford Freight Terminal
I found a website that tracks trains and applied a filter for the above here are todays results, some actual and planned
The numbers are total, regardless of direction

From midnight to 07:00
10 trains
07:00 to 10:00
2 trains
10:00 to 16:00
5 trains
16:00 to 19:00
4 trains
After 19:00
5 trains

So a total of 26 trains
Crucially 15 of these were before or after 7:00

Normally much so.
However as we ran into temporary lights coming into Buxton this morning, causing us to miss our train to Piccadilly and putting our pre match luncheon into jeopardy I'm not happy.
