I've just read it.
I don't agree with you I'm afraid.
The rags have spent over a Billion pounds since the pisscan slunked away. There's a difference between spending money and investing it. The rags are so behind the game they're spending has become out of control with no mid to long-term plans.
Clubs like MCFC, Liverpool and to a lesser degree Chelsea have invested in a structure that suits their team dynamics. The rags on the other hand are so desperate for things to work out that they're forcing the issue and hoping that paying higher wages will translate to success on the pitch.
I actually tend to agree, i'm just loathe to.
United have spent decades building up that 'support network' in the media, feeding bullshit to their masses about how this is a
'temporary blip', '
this is Manchesniteh we're talking about' soundbites etc, and their goons lap it up and keep sending them cash, despite the anti-Glazer rhetoric.
I've been hearing it for years; United are broke, they're in debt, they've got nothing left. What's this? Another unethical £150m spending on players that hasn't worked? Oh they must really be in the shit now!....but nothing ever materialises. No punishments, no fines, no points deductions. Right now they're just shit, but they're rich and shit.
Will they ever be the
dominant force they once were? No, I doubt that, but it's dependant on that debt finally coming to bite them on the arse, dismantling their 'empire' that they regrettably still have, selling off all their assets, academy and infrastructure just to pay it off with no discernable way to rebuild. Because until that has gone, they will still have a way back, and it's a question of when not if. I need them relegated and spending at least 5 years in the Championship for me to consider them truly dead. And if you say to yourself "
that'll never happen, though", that's kind of the point.
