United To Struggle For Top 4?

Ronaldo & Tevez scored the goals that directly got them 23 points last season and they only dropped 11 points against the teams outside the top four. They are very reliant on Rooney now and if he is struggling then he seems to lose confidence quickly. So they probably won't win the league or CL this season.

However, they'll still finish top 4 because the Premier League needs them to. Simple as that.

"because the Premier League needs them to"

Oh yeah....forgot about that..

IMHO I think ferguson is getting a little old and stuck in his ways.

I think he has put them under too much pressure by not investing. And from what I've seen pre-season and for the first two games, they just don't seem the force they were. If people think that can't happen to them, look at the pool! Burnley have shown the way, and I'm sure will encourage a lot of teams to go for a win now, and not just a draw.

With that said, I think they'll probably grind out results and I think they'll make the top 6, I don't believe they have the depth anymore to win the PL, and I believe ferguson doesn't care, I believe he's hoping to throw everything in for one more CL trophy before calling it a day.

As much as we hate them and it's hilarious when they lose, they are a quality side with some great players.
They might not win the league this year but they'll do no worse than top three and they usually win "something"
While the Burnley result was a joy, it was a fluke nothing more.
A result like this will happen to all the precious "big four" teams at some point this season

Spot on.
indeed

The questions you have to ask yourself are:

Have Man Utd got stronger?

Have liverpool got stronger?

Have arsenal got stronger?

Have chelsea got stronger?

The latter is debatable whereas the remaing 3 are all without doubt NO, they haven't, and have we?Yes we bloody have!

They will be in the top four, but wont win IMO.

I have a feeling it's Arse-holes year :)

.......Our's next :D

Much as i hate to analyse Utd Plc, i think we have to put last nights result into context and not get too carried away.

Yes, we're having a great time at the moment and Utd Plc are struggling, but they still have a lot of quality. Vidic and Ferdinand have missed the season so far, and with those two back, you'd fancy their defence to be a lot stronger. They will still create chances and with Rooney, Berbatoss, Owen, etc, they will still have the opportunities to score goals - whether they will or not remains to be seen, especially with the departute of Ronaldo and young Carlos.

I noticed two things last night though;

1. Rooney naturally drops deep, and even though the emphasis this season is for him to play up top, that doesn't appear to be his natural game. He's more of a traditional Number 10 than a poacher. I suppose thats why Taggart bought Owen, but he won't play every week so goals look in short supply.

2. There seems to be a bit of tension between the players - Rooney seems to glare at everyone, in particular Berbatov in the second half when Rooney left a through ball for Berbatoss, who in turn left it for Rooney - it was comedy when the ball trickled out of play, but it was also funny to see the look that Rooney gave Berbatoss. It kind of suggested they don't see eye to eye...

Anyway, long may it continue, but experience tells us they will be up there at the end of the season. However, i think we will be up there with them, or certainly not far behind! Come on you blues!!!

until I see them still struggling into December, I don't know how to predict where they might finish.

I do know that if city keeps improving each week and Tottenham keeps up their pace, it is going to put a big scare into the regular top 4 to have to keep up or drastically improve their level of play.
