Thats still 10 games missed through injury (not sure how many in the cups as well). And he's currently getting by (from memory) with newspapers stuffed in his shoes to allow him to play that many. For £10m+ I expect someone a bit more stable than that.

As for the fee no word yet, but £10 million ish wont be bad business IMO. Hes better than any of our other central defenders (Apart from Toure) WHat do people really expect ?

When we're paying upwards of £10m I expect someone that won't need replacing in a years time for us to keep taking steps forward. Either someone younger, better or if we're getting a stop gap someone cheaper.
 
I think its arrogant and unrealistic to be down on Upson, he's a lot better defender than what we have (bar toure)

Whilst I think there is a growing list of foreign CB's who are class, but we don't know anything about availability.

Alves, Hangerland, Mertesacker et all may not be for sale or may not want to come to us.

I watched Lucio play for BM on espn and he was quality, also a complete nutter.
 
well that one poster would be right as there are a far few arragont cnuts who are City fans and some who post on here, bloody deluded and who havn't got a f*ckin clue, expecting success and glory immediately whilst constantly slaggin off players, but hey all the big b'stards have fans like that and I'm beginning to realise that side of demanding glory is indicitive of where we are now... I've spent 3 decades with mainly shite so as many decades in the future that the powers that be allow me can be spent showboating and bringin in the trophies and gloating like a b'tard.. Fuk it! Hammers fans are safe i'd say, apart from the Millwally ones! Upson is growing on me, guess he has to by tha sounds of it?! 30 years old, mediocre player, no pace, and no real improvement (if any whatsoever) on what we already have.

I'd rather place some faith in Kompany or Onuoha to partner Toure, rather than hand an ageing dud and huge payday.

Why can't we just look abroad?

It really is as simple as that. It wouldn't be the huge gamble Leslie appears to think it is.

As far as I'm concerned failing to significantly strengthen a porous defence a few days before the beginning of a new season is much more of a gamble - a gamble that will cost us a handful of places in the final league standings.

Ive met a few tithead Hammer fans in my time who think their one of the few "True Clubs" remaining, they always have that arrogance about them and its still an arrogance. I love our fans and I dont think that many have been running their mouth off about the future. I suppose we have had so much shit thrown at us that its finally time for us to stand up and be counted. CTID.

I wouldn't call him mediocre, TBH is mediocre. He's a big improvement on what we have. I agree we should look abroad but MH doesn't seem to want to do that, just spent all summer trying to sign PL CB's who aren't interested in signing for us.
