i just don't get why every player we sign this window has to be from the premiership ! there are alot of quality defenders out there in other leagues that we could be looking at. its not like prem players always settle straight away when the move to other prem clubs

We are in a position where we are trying to become an established top 6 side having been midtable at best, relegation fodder at worst for 30 years.

Rome wasnt built in a day as we have already seen even if you offer mental money and fees (Terry anyone) the players and the clubs are not going to be willing to do the business with us at this stage.

Its true players comming from other prem sides dont always work but much better ratio than bringing them in from abroad.

Chelsea spent £308 million on 24 players in the first 3 years under the russian and they already had a champions league side. Half the players they signed were shit in the end. In comparison we have been pretty sensible and spent wisely.

Personally I would have prefered Bruno Alves but if Hughes doesnt get this right hes fucked so fair enough his call.

The fact is with the exception of Toure, Upson is considerably better than the other central defenders we have at the club currently and with all the pissing about we just need to get somone in now.

Third choice for ENgland in that position so hes hardly shit is he ?

tbh - was never played at chelsea needed time to get fit plus he is shite anyway
wayne bridge - again not played regular first team football for 3 years at chelsea

I think thats a respectable back four. I still think we'd be better of getting a super star CB from abroad but I'd be happy with Upson, he's a clear improvement.

with less than 1 week to go before season start, an inexperienced PL player would be plain stupid...........upson all day long..........

then why buy them ? kompany settled fine, zab settled fine, de jong settled fine, petrov settled fine, corluka settled fine, anelka settled fine, van buyten settled fine.

quality players usually settle ok. i think its because we have so much money we aren't bothering to look for gems. we going for quick fixes that we can just chuck a few extra million at

Very underwhelmed.

Another player that isn't top quality, is way too expensive, old and injury prone. And will need to be replaced in a year for us to continue to move forward.
