US Politics Thread

Saw a clip of Biden talking to the press and jesus he's old. How can he legitimately expect to govern for another 4 years? He looks and sounds doddery, and its not his stutter, but his speech is just that of a very old person. Its really slow and so are his actions. His faculty may still be there but he's not a commanding or confidence inspiring figure in the least.

Be interesting to see him debate
Disagree.

Biden has always talked slowly and deliberately to combat his stutter. The narrative that he's senile and unfit is a Right wing smear job.

Did you watch his State of the Nation speech? He really put it to the Republicans.

Biden isn't charismatic and isn't a great speaker. But he's a centrist Democrat who is able to carry the party along and as a centrist is able to appeal to swing voters.

I'm biased here - as I'm a centrist - but I love Biden. He's been dealt such a shitty hand (COVID, Russian war with Ukraine, off-scale internal strife between Americans) - but has done a fantastic job.

Coz that’s how a political system goes about it’s legal business…basing decisions on a social media poll…dear god
MTG is both a disgusting human and a political snake. When the cameras roll she'll say and do just about anything to appeal to her base (far Right, Democrat hating, racist rural Georgians).

Wait... secure the border?

I thought the whole point of Trump was that he built this impregnable wall that would be super effective at stopping Mexicans crossing the border?

So she's admitting he didn't actually do that. And this has now become Biden's fault... somehow? Because the single-celled organisms that follow her Twitter say so.

It's funny, when I was a kid my mum told me about her time growing up in Florida and how it was the best years of her life. I always thought I would move there as an adult. Strange to think that 20 years later there is a list of about 50+ countries I'd rather move to before choosing to go there, including a few African countries.

Some great countries to live in in Africa tbf.

Biden has been a fantastic President (the only misstep he's had as far as I'm concerned is the withdrawal from Afghanistan which I agree had to be done, but the logistics were less than desirable even taking into account the mess that Trump got us into) - the far Right has demonized him at every turn. And his slow speech - which he's used for years - to combat stuttering plays into the false narrative that he's mentally deficient.
Reagan always gets credit for ending the Soviet Union which was always going to happen. Meanwhile Biden has stepped up and stood by Ukraine with the rest of NATO, he might actually be the POTUS to end Russia as we know it. As far as Afghanistan goes it's pretty obvious that Trump letting 5,000 taliban prisoners out at during his administration is what led to the unrest over there. It was always going to be ugly but Biden pretty much had no choice.
