US Politics Thread

Still don’t know who or what you mean — maybe living where I do I am desensitized? I mean the Sisters of the Perpetual Indulgence were considered lunatics once; less so now, but when they were gonna show up at Dodger Stadium there were protests — is that the kind of thing you’re talking about? What’s a specific example of extreme community activism that has proven counterproductive to the fight for equality of LGTBQ people? I’d say the agendas of the oppressed are nearly always hijacked by “extremism” — or what’s perceived as extremism — as they develop, since extremists usually have the most to gain or lose from change, but also make up the smallest portion of a community.
“I don’t oppose them protesting or advocating, just do it when and where it is convenient for the majority of people.”

I'd love to see Lady G's face if that occured.

Special Counsel to deliver statement shortly.
Something like this…

This feels like the big one. And by that I mean that if we lived in any sane world he should be placed under house arrest until his trial. Because why would you allow somebody who conspired to literally overthrow the country and its political process to walk around as a free man pending trial?

They held Jan 6th rioters in pre-trial detention so why should he not be put there too?

Because the US has two justice systems:

1. The “justice” system for people with wealth and power.

2. The “justice” system for everyone else.

Just look at the detention of leaders of the Prouds Boys and Patriot Front, some that didn’t even attend the insurrection, but did absolutely help plan ahead of it, excite it on the day, and manage it as it unfolded, the same as Trump.

But I can guarantee Trump will not see pre-trial detention for the simple fact that he is a “politically important figure”.

He's a flight risk at this point.
