It would be hugely embarrassing if it plays out like that. Day after day of the GOP all in a shambles and the Dems just calling them out.

There is no strategy here. Its lose lose. Everyone assumes that the loonies have some upper hand and a Gym Jordan type will get the job. But why would the majority of GOPers who were happy with McCarthy vote a loony in? And assuming they do he has zero goodwill. And why would any McCarthy supporter put themselves forward just to end up in the same bind that killed the last x speakers. Its an impossible task holding that rabble together.

The only solid outcome is its good for Dems. In politics it's great when the opposition are damaging themselves. A bit like Labour in Scotland and the demise of the SNP. A huge win last night and all on the back of SNP self inflicted damage.

It's a big scandal brushed under the carpet by the GOP. Jordan was clearly aware of some awful stuff going on and he did nothing. He's lucky to have gotten away with it.
