Journalists and news outlets staffed by journalists are more responsible, and have to deliver facts by the nature of their job. The ones who find 'ANYTHING' to back stuff up are the unregulated ones that people like to feel validated by, and do this by saying they are engaging in research, away from the very vaccuous term they use, MSM. I dont think anyone equated sports writers really. News journalists who write for respected and established outlets have standards to maintain that includes source led pieces. Do you genuinely believe that there are many shoelaces out there that do their own work and not rehash/rewrite a piece given to them by an agency? Celebrities suing papers isn't the same as say the retelling of "The Russians did it" in the 2016 American election or the post Brexit reporting.
