The trouble is, its just never sensible governing anymore. There probably is a huge amount of wastage in government bureaucracy and some huge overspending (lining mates pockets) but instead of tackling it normally its always from one exteme to another. Cut all government aid. Disband agencies, fire employees.

Systematically and forensically. Not just cutting everything on a whim. This is not a post to apportion blame, government as a whole regardless of who had the purse strings is culpable. It got bloated now its being executed. Theres no middle ground or common sense

Like if you overfeed your kid and they're overweight, you dont just cut off food completely to remedy it. Cut out the snacks.

Its not being executed. It was subsumed into the State Department. Which might actually not be a good thing long-term as you need some plausible deniability when these organizations do shady things on behalf of the government. But still l, thre os excessive fraud that has become entrenched in the system. It needs to be cur out.

It seems you have a different stylistic approach to how the cutting out of waste and fraud should procede but you shree it should. Fair enough.

For a supposedly smart Guy, Musk and his band of teenage hackers have clearly not even considered the second and third order effects of their slash and burn cost saving strategy, if you can even call it that.

Only if they had just had the decency to call you up and explained to you how they had considered the 2nd and 3rd order effects of their actions.

Perhaps then you'd have been convinced. But alas, they didn't. How inconsiderate :(

If they have considered the 2nd and 3rd order effects they're even more evil than I'd already reckoned. I see dead people. And some bankrupt US farmers.

No, I think it’s wholesale junking of programmes. Hence the attempt to sack loads of people. In education, for eg, they are saying that they will just shut the agency down and throw it back to the states. No mention of funding replacement for poor areas. Ironically, this will hurt red states much more than blue ones.
