Using Mobiles Whilst Driving #%×*heads...

In years to come, they will even ban taking a call in the car as imo, its distracting, even on hands free.

Another bugbear of mine is folk playing with the sat nav stuck to the window whilst driving! Its no different and should be dealt with in the same way.

The new penalties are still too lenient.

Several studies have shown that using a phone while driving impairs driving ability to the same extent as drunk driving so the criminals who do it should get the same punishment - an instant ban.

Texting is far worse than being on the phone which is bad enough.

Equally fuckin bad is women who think it's ok to put their make up on driving down the parkway on the way to work (sometimes whilst checking their phone).

Id go one further, children shouldn't be allowed in cars, nothing more distracting that having them in your ear 24/7

In the last two weeks I've seen more people using their phones whilst driving, than in the last couple of years. It seems like every fucking idiot in the world has been on the road. The cunts on the motorway piss me off. They'll overtake you and then slow right down in front of you for seemingly no reason. When you overtake them, they're on the fucking phone. Cunts.

While we are at it as well, coppers busy driving, often at high speed with one hand off the wheel and head bowed down towards their chests whilst operating the hand held radio stuck on their vests.

Fair is fair, dangerous is dangerous!

Well, it's true that it impacts upon your senses.

When you're walking the street your senses are fully engaged, for the normal person. You engage the peripheral vision and your ears form a part of those senses as a natural part of your defences. The more things that distract you, the less you can engage those natural defences.

When ones drives, the vehicle becomes an extension of you, so the less things to distract you, the better.

One can actively save their own life as well as others by being engaged.

Very true - badly framed law. Its only calling on mobile phones - either Steve Coogan or Jimmy Carr, one of them, was not prosecuted because he was using his phone as a recording device like a dictaphone to record funny material that came to him as he drove along so he didn't forget it. Analysis of his phone showed he wasn't making a call. Not saying what was done was wrong - in the eyes of the law it clearly wasn't but its funny how Police can do this, you can mess with the satnav or fiddle around with the upturned pie dish that sits under your left armpit in a BMW to fiddle with the "infotainment" and all those distractions are not banned. They have to rely on the notoriously hard to prove driving without due care.
