Valencia in for Negredo?

We signed him for 16m + 4m in addons. I'd guess that winning the league may have added 1m to that (winning the CL was part of the addons and I'd imagine a substantial part)

Selling him for £25m is decent business given he turns 30 next season.

Big risk this season tho.

Bizarre how much people think we'll be short in attack with only 3 world class players for 2 positions, when we can easily play with only one striker if need be. Yet no one seems concerned that both last year and this, we have had only 3 central midfielders for two positions, with no alternative to play less than that amount?

I don't think we have a problem with attackers at all, we have a wealth of options evn if we lose Aguero and Jovetic at the same time (Yaya, Silva, Nasri and even Kelechi, who didn't look out of place at all). Central midfield looks a far more obvious lack of depth, again, and should be much more obviously the foreseeable problem for when Yaya goes to ACON.

maybe we should get rid of a few more then if we can make a few quid and not get relegated?

We were going to go into the CL without Negredo

Ideally prefer 4 as Aguero and Jovetic may look for now, but they haven't the best record.

January Transfer window mitigates the risk to an extent

And you have to wonder whether Negredo will be at 100% if he's not 100% in himself.

Difficult and we don't know the full picture or what options are open to us

If our 3 strikers had the injury records our central midfielders do I wouldn't see it as a problem.

Time for another Spanish inquisition George? :)

Fernando is going to start more games and Fernandinho and Yaya are going to continue playing the important matches as well. Not that outrageous to think we'd keep 3 strikers and use more attacking midfielders if necessary.

We are/were the only team in the world with 4 strikers of that calibre.

this move has all the hallmarks of an almighty fiasco
Which in turn leads to us all having a disco and signing isco.;-)
That has crossed my mind.

A forward would be ideal but I can't see any that would be available, but it leaves the possibility that we could look at other options. Not sure where that could leave us CL squad-wise though

Khaldoon/Txiki keep telling us how great they are for getting the deals done early and all that, but yet on the last day they seem ready to sell Negredo and not replace him. Surely this boils down to whether they want 4 strikers in the squad or 3. This simple decision should have been taken months ago, its not something you just leave to chance.

For that reason I don't see Negredo leaving, but I would now sell (but obviously replace) as he wants to leave, and being forced to stay after being so close to a move would only make him and his family more eager to return to Spain. And yes I'm fucking flapping.

Required player , MP said on Friday he won't be going by deadline day , currently injured until Mid October for sure.

Only one year into a long contract.

The only way we would sell him or loan him out is because we have a fit replacement lined up.

The player himself has said he wants to honour his contract.

Txiki would be very foolish to run rough shot over a manager who in his first season in charge got us a title , a league cup and further than we have been before in the chumps league who had no previous experience in the premier league.

If MP wants four strikers for challenging 4 trophies then that's what he will get.
