Not seen it mate, I'll take your word for it :)
Don't. I saw it. Sons heel was offside. The TV highlighted it, despite what the resident VAR spokesman says he was not 'well offside' He was facing towards his own goal when he received the ball which he immediately passed back to another player.
We were treated to red and blue lines whizzing about on the screen like we were at the Hacienda until they found his heel was slightly in front of the defenders.

Even in the frame that Bluehammer posted it still looks to close to call. If you used the next frame I bet he would be onside.

I said the same thing about the disallowed last min goal vs Spurs in the CL. They froze the picture too early

Not a good day for VAR at all.
Will players start to roll their sleeves up on their shirts now? According to the commentator the new rule is from the end of your sleeve. Not sure what they'd do if you decided to wear a long sleeved shirt.

The handball rule has gone from one extreme - think back to the Eric Dier v Newcastle one, to the other when you see Matty Cash's one today

No idea how VAR can look at the Fernandes tackle and not even decide it was worthy of a yellow card.

Perhaps shirts should be modified if a sleeve determines an off side decision?
Next season the players will be wearing "Basketball style vests" next thing VAR will be looking at an erect nipple for an off side decision!!! It's all bollocks!

Just seen the highlights of Southampton vs Villa. Southampton utterly, completely robbed. I would be raging if I were a Saints supporter. Another lousy day for reffing combined with VAR.
Hope that Villa fans will now shut up about ‘poor’ decisions against them.
just seen that aswell, a truly awful offside decision. Why is there never any explanation for crazy decisions like this?

But the penalty call as well in the first half. I know it deflects up off his thigh, but his arms should not be in that position in his own box. They're well away from his body.
if I compare it to the penalty awarded against Micah when we were playing Liverpool in the league cup (I know, I've got a long, merciless, vindictive memory, especially where the dippers are concerned — for my mental health, I should let it go…) the ball, blasted at him from a shorter distance by the way, also deflects up off his thigh, but onto his hand which is right in front of his face. As you would expect it to be.

Where are the VAR apologists today? Perhaps they haven't got up yet. 2 absolutely joke decisions to Rob Southampton. They are now lying to cover their 'mistake' saying it hit his thigh first.

It looks like they gave sympathy to Dean Smith after our outrageous goal
I'm hoping they give Southampton the same sympathy in there next game

Looking closely at those 2 calls that went against Southampton, one would almost think that the game had already been decided prior to kick-off with the lack of action from the referee for the first and the frame used for the second.

Also, I thought the sleeve thing was for handball decisions with the armpit being used for offside? Just shows how much the PL and PGMOL have muddied the waters when nobody actually knows the rules anymore.

Dean Smith not gobbing off about fair play when his team were on the receiving end of one generous VAR decision and one wrong VAR decision . How the fuck can a sleeve by offside

Smith was offended when we scored a perfectly legal goal , but he laughs at Southampton's woes when he gets two decisions that were incorrect . two faced hypocrite , looking forward to Villa assuming their rightful place in a relegation battle next season and Smith getting the boot.
