Stop sitting on the fence, Bill. Tell us what you really think!

Great post. Echoes what most fans think about the corruption endemic in the game since the crooks/media took over. (Apologies if they are not one and the same)

WE WANT TRANSPARENCY. Every other sport has it, why not football? (Best answers on a postcard to......). It speaks volumes when the commentary team know a VAR decision before the armchair viewers and, most importantly, the match going fans. Have they something to hide? (rhetorical)

You've already covered most of the points I was going to make, but I've got my granddaughter's Christmas presents to wrap, so I'll leave it there.

Have a great Christmas, mate.

Cheers crazyg, make sure you sellotape those corners down evenly..

All the best to you and your family for Christmas and New Year too.!

Football is a wonderful game that sucks you in and gives you immense enjoyment and huge , emotional highs and lows..

I wouldn't have it any other way to be honest..!

Fiddling with the rules and trying to sterilise the game, whilst bending said rules to favour the few is just not for me..!

Unfortunately there's nothing I can do about it other than vent on here, I'm really not a miserable b*stard , honest..!

Anyway, appreciate you sharing some of my views, ..... at least I'm not on my own..! Ha!

I am sure Santa will bring you a nice pressie as a reward for that;)

Not blowing my own trumpet and I don't want to tempt fate on Christmas Eve but I've been really good this year too Mike..

Who knows, he might eventually bring me that Chopper bike I wanted 40 odd years ago that I waited for what seemed like Christmas after Christmas after Christmas ...and I never got..

Mind you, you can't have enough socks..!

I am not sure whether it is implied by what you and Bill said but being able to hear the discussion between ref and var would very interesting plus any other mystery voices the ref gets in his ear and for example causes him to put the red card away.
That's exactly what I meant. Transparency means hearing what they say AND hear in real time, just like they do in other sports, and broadcast that conversation to the attendees at the venue, so there is no doubt as to the decision made and the (?) thinking that goes on to make that decision.
The incident you are no doubt referring to was Alty Anthony v Chelsea, when Luiz should have gone for an early bath after pulling back Aguero. One of the worst decisions I have ever seen in my 60+ years of watching City, and possibly cost us the title that year. Ian Cheeseman would tend to agree with us on that point!

Good for you being good;)
Socks shoes and even some long trousers are difficult for me to put on but with a little help l shall get properly kitted out for an unusual Christmas Dinner this year.

Shirley some of the younger element could hack into the comms between on and off field officials plus whoever gets involved in it. Footballs own Watergate. I am sure you remember Jack Taylor who was miked-up donkeys years ago for a documentary so we should have been able to use technology ages ago IF where had been a will.
That Luiz incident was under our noses in East Stand Level 3 and l doubt Ian Cheeseman was as angry as us. But he also had the ridiculous red cards at the end under his nose when we couldn't see how one sided Taylor was in dealing with that. He was due to speak at Mid Cheshire OSC before Covid. If it ever happens he will find that few of us have forgotten that.

The thing with VAR, it was brought in to stop atrocious decisions. We're now getting MORE atrocious decisions than before VAR.

Truthfully speaking the Hand of God goal could still happen. Even more stark is that the cancelled lampard goal against Germany could still happen.

1 person needs to ref the game, look at a monitor if needs be but he is accountable and only him. We will get less mistakes, but we have to live with the mistakes (like we do with VAR)

Thought this was a decent article (even if the author is a Spurs fan). Brought back horrible memories of celebrating the CL goal for a good 2 minutes in SS3 before VAR stepped in. People were jumping over rows of seats hugging strangers. I think that was the night Football died. RIP.

Lino flags Man City offside.
Cancelo with a brilliant finish.
VAR shows he was onside.
Goal stands.

what a shame that would normally have been ruled out.
