Var debate 2019/20

VAR as a system is perfect, the camera never lies. The problem is just the tosser watching it. What we need to do, is to eliminate the human (tosser) imput, and get VAR checked by a computer. self checking VAR
VAR has a margin of error of approx 10 cm when used to measure offside. The 10 cm is an estimate based on camera frame rate and average speed of attackers running forward. An accurate measurement for offside would require the relative speed of the attacker and defender, information not available at the monment. So computer or no computer, nobody knows if a player is offside or not when the margins are very small.

Get cameras that can capture at a higher frame rate? 60fps is a joke.

Catching a few today with that pole you absolute wum.

No, sack it off or change the off side law so that if an attacker is beyond the last defender by a certain amount, say the diameter of a football (22cm), then it is classed as level and is onside. This gives a large benefit of the doubt to the attacking side. To judge offside by mm measurements of an armpit is ludicrous and completely impractical.

This is true which means you can't rule a player is off or onside for a figure less than 10cms. The answer to this is just to make allowances for this and take this into account with the decision ie you can never be 10cms offside but 11cms is the margin. It would also be easier if they just took the position of a player's foot as the benchmark. That said we will never see correct decisions as long as the VAR team see their prime role as protecting their pals (the referees) instead of making an honest decision.

Aubameyang's goal against United could have been disallowed if the ref' had blown before he poked it in the net. If VAR is designed to overturn official's errors why does the law not allow a goal to stand when the ref' has compounded the flagman's error?
On Sunday you could clearly see Granville on the touchline bending the ear of the 4th official "The referee blew his whistle". Desperate to win, even by cheating, compare that to Pep telling the 4th' "Not a penalty" (Sterling v Shakhtar).

I’d go for less. Say four frames per second. Much easier to decide at which point the ball is played and where the attacker is. As it stands with 60 you have too many opportunities for a human to influence which frame to use.
