In a world of opinions that change from one minute to the next based on the latest tweet, there is something comforting about your consistency. I will miss it when you finally turn to the dark side :)

It's going to be tough to change my view.

Refs should have some tech help to ensure we get better decisions and they don't miss any howlers.

I never expected it to be plain sailing and can put up with the uproar when it makes mistakes, that can only help to implement ways to improve it going forward.

I think referees need all the help they can get as footballers become more sophisticated in their ways of bending the laws. However, change has to come from the top with the law makers setting up a system which is independent from on field referees and which recognises the measurement errors in the technology and tries to act much more within the spirit of the game. I’m less optimistic than you seem to be that the present set up can adapt to do that …. But hope springs eternal.

Just watching MOTD; the game at Luton had 2 ludicrous penalty awards (one each), which were confirmed by VAR. Even Rob Edwards said that he thought neither of them were penalties, and then admitted that he has no idea what handball is any more.

Followed by one not given for Forest which should be.

The consistency gets worse every week.

Indeed. I posted at the time that I thought that was a penalty. Football is notably worse for the introduction of VAR.
It's just the consistency of it all that annoys me most.

I see being 5 yards offside with no flag is back, after going missing for a couple of weeks (notably after we suffered injuries as a result).

The Video Assistant Referee is an extra set of eyes, with the advantage of high quality video feeds and slow-motion replay and is there to monitor incidents the on-field referee may have missed, such as 'violent conduct'.

In our game, the on-field officials missed an Everton player deliberately kick Ederson in the head, and yet VAR ignored it. A simple case of violent conduct, and they IGNORED it, like it never happened. The PL have spent the majority of the evening playing whack-a-mole with anyone who dare post a video of the incident, and the major TV sports outlets have IGNORED it.

Weird, huh?

I’ve just seen on Twitter- he should have got punished for that and still there should be retrospective action.

There were quite a few on the match day thread that wanted a pen for an everton handball yesterday .

Sickening this allowed to stand and he gets to gleefully rub it in with the celebration.

Id rather have something like this than what we have to suffer with VAR and the ridiculous inconsistent decisions that it delivers, the "not clear and obvious error" the fractions of inches that rule out a perfectly good goal yet, allows the ghost goal at the rags The foul by the rag keeper v Wolves etc, the kick out by the Neverton player at Edison's head yesterday. VAR cannot be defended its just the same idiots making more mistakes, spoiling football especially for the match going fans. I didn't fully celebrate the goals at the Etihad yesterday as i was sure they would find something wrong

That’s fine, but no, fuck cheating bastards that can score with there elbow and gleefully celebrate- that’s against my team I’d be gutted especially knowing we have tech in place just to let officials know that it should be disallowed. If this goal was against any opposition there would be furious outrage and hundreds of pages about it.

All the above does not excuse the times when officials fail to get the correct call even with monitor.

The Tarkowski block?

I think it was only one or two calling for handball in the match thread. It definitely hit his arm, but it was straight at him from short range at pace and his arm was tucked right into his body. I'd be fuming if that had been given against us, but not at all surprised.
