VAR Discussion Thread - 2023/24 | PL clubs to vote on whether to scrap VAR (pg413)

Would you want VAR scrapped?

  • Total voters
    293
  • Poll closed .
Make the offside lines thicker and go with the linesman’s decision if they overlap at all.
Howlers would be identified quickly and close ones would go with the linesman quickly.
TV frame rates mean there is a margin of error anyway.

It will be kept. Wolves missed a trick by not adding a third option: fan led root and branch review of how it operates with a view to simplify and strengthen the role of on field ref

Think it should be what it first said it was going to be for clear and obvious errors not for the tightest offsides

If you gave me some plumbing tools and sent me out doing jobs I'm going to make a pig's ear of it unlike somebody who's trained to use them and knows their shit.
Sort out who's using VAR.

Fair points made by wolves tbf

They have a valid point its reasons for it have been long over shadowed by incompetent at times secretive officiating it was never meant to micromanage all decisions or let off refs who are mates.
Remove it, review what it's for, retrain those using it, return to using it later

Introduced to avoid admitting how poor the standard of refereeing a game in real time had become, then to only discover the same cunts were as inept when watching the same game through the eye of a camera. Nowt wrong with VAR just the useless governing body (EPL) and their useless lackeys

When you have:

Stuart Atwell
Chris Kavanagh
John Brooks
Darren England
Paul Tierney
Craig Pawson
Simon Hooper

led by Howard Webb and John Moss

then unfortunatory VAR will never do the job intended effectively.

I am happy to keep VAR if these were all binned off instead
