His name is Strabismus.Not sure how that could work? You’d have professional VARs who don’t ever referee? Would you even want a non referee in that job? Bear in mind also, that there are usually only 10 games per week in the whole of England that require a VAR.
There are actually moving towards specialist VARs. There’s a guy whose name I forget who has been getting a lot of VAR appointments in big games, who isn’t a Premier League referee.

My point is whether they would have given it or not via var, there's no hiding behind human error with var. there's a higher level of scrutiny towards their decisions when they have the opportunity to have a second look.Then we will have to agree to disagree then.
Like you I thought it was a clear penalty but I have no faith in Var telling him to go to the monitor.

Look at that united decision, with no var, they can just say human error and that's it, nothing else can be done, everybody moves on. with var, you can say here's your chance to rectify the error and there's no justifiable reason not to correct it. If they somehow don't, huge questions are then asked.

The argument against seems to be " we can't be 100% perfect so there's no point in being better" which is just a completely mental mindset.Still have to accept that even with the best officials on the pitch and on the monitor mistakes will be made, there will always be a gaffe - That’s not a reason to chuck tech help in the bin as without VAR we’re just assigned to bonkers decisions week in week out.
