VAR (PL introduction 2019)

The abandoned second leg of the CAF Champions League final between Esperance and Wydad Casablanca is to be replayed at a neutral venue after this month's Africa Cup of Nations.

Tunisian club Esperance were awarded the trophy after the match could not be completed due to a fault with the Video Assistant Referee system but they have now been ordered to return the trophy and medals.

I was talking to a top referee yesterday I asked what he thought of VAR.

" Its OK but his colleagues don't know what is happening they are fukin shiting it "

I have a expectation that long ball teams like United and Liverpool will benefit greatly from VAR.

From what I have seen so far it is a total farce and open to exploitation. Believe me it will be!!

Pre-Season will all be about how to improve chance of hitting players arms in the box, how to exploit the rules, how to manipulate the referee.
I have huge concerns this is just another tool to aid fixing of football results.

After the Spurs controversy it's clear to see this is going to kill goal celebrations for the match going fan.
Yes it will be more exciting for TV viewers - woopdeedo

Goal line technology is great, but if one frame you are on and next you are off is just dodgy
What also irks me is how it is invoked, who decides, the VAR red?
On the plus side just heard 4 people in office who never talk about football discussing VAR and how it works meh

A lad at work said today that rather than be flagged if any part of you is offside, you should be allowed to play on if any part of you is onside.

It makes sense when you consider that offside was invented to prevent goal hanging.

That's the old "daylight" rule. Which would make more sense alongside VAR rather than having to cut toe nails before a game.

VAR decided to book and then send off a South African lady at the world cup because as she cleared the ball her foot came up and caught the opposing player on her thigh who was closing her down. VAR told the ref to look at the screen and the muppet of a ref decided it worthy of a second yellow and therefore a red. Now I thought VAR could only look at red card offences and not yellow so yet again nobody appears to know what VAR is there for.

What a joke. I would rather not have VAR than seeing the beautiful game being ruined by incompetent cnuts.

That is a good idea, or perhaps a sensor in the boots which is the fixed point regardless of any other part of the body. Makes it all simple, augueros sensor is behind vvd therefore onside

I personally don’t think the ref should refer to var, I think the team should, keep challenge if correct to appeal.
It will then be clear and obvious errors, which is not the case presently

I was thinking about that the other day at Lingaard offside. It was really so minimal that that rule would be adequate.
