VAR Thread - 2021/22

LOL the ref is better than tyhe opposition in blocking our passes? Bit silly tbh, refs have so much to deal with and if they are cheats they'll just award a penalty or fk or red card.... Not spend their time trying to get in the way of partiular teams and particular passes.... wtf. Why are conspiracy theories just full of holes.

The best 'cheats' hide it well. Others not so much.

Have you ever watched the infamous Mike Riley (current head of the PiGMOL by the way) match between the Scum and Arsenal? It's on YouTube if you cared to search it out. That is about as one sided as you will ever see in terms of how the game was 'managed'.

There are some on here who already do this. Others I'd advise you to watch the positioning of certain referees in our games.

They seem very adept in obstructing passing lanes.

OliVAR is a **** for this.
He is a **** for everything and at all times.

I agree, even Pep Guardiola said something in a previous game along the lines of City don't get given anything. Fair decisions would be nice, that is all. It just seemed that the only reason for the delay caused by VAR was to disrupt City's game. The handball they were supposed to be looking at wasn't even shown and as for the red card, the commentary said " minimal contact " despite the gash on Aymeric Laporte's leg being " clear and obvious " almost as if the commentator was excusing in advance the decision he was expecting.

that is spot on matey

VAR is a tool to stop the game as well ? the foul on KDB was crazy because we was playing on for a good minute or so before the ref blew because the ball went out ? also a couple of the southampton player just fell to the floor with a fake injury to get a water break or tac-ticks from the touch line it needs looking at time wasting ?

players just going down with a fake injury has to be stopped ? why not say well if your down for a couple of minutes then you have to stay off the field for the same amount of time its would soon stop

ive read somewhere from a southampton fan every game on 60 minutes a player goes down and a break incures in the game, dont know how true it is but ill watch out for it now

its defo happening more and more in the city games ? they are doing it to stop our momentum and kill some time out of the game. burnley do it against us and they even fake head injuries at corners to stop the game

Only way to stop these types of incidents is to add on the proper amount of time at the end of a game, which we all know won't happen. Even against Southampton in injury time when their player fell over his own leg and stayed down and play was stopped for 30 seconds that wasn't added on. Fans from all sides need to unite to sort out the game otherwise it becomes WWE. But we all know it won't happen as certain teams benefit more from VAR

Not sure if it happens in any sport other than Basketball but a very big time display (which most grounds now have) should be used and stopped when play stops. Would be very simple to implement and straightforward for the players and fans.
Having said that it smacks of common sense and would be difficult to 'manipulate'! So that's a definite no from PIGMOL.

It's not the time added on that's the problem in most cases. It's the break in momentum which is really disrupting for a free flowing team like City.

Been saying that for years. A big countdown clock at both ends of the ground, which starts when the referee blows his whistle, stops when the ball is out of play (for whatever reason), and resumes when the ball is in play. As you say, it's done in other sports (rugby, hockey), so why not football? No timewasting as the ball is not in play and the clock is not moving, so spend as much time as you want in feigning injury, broken nail, laddered tights, whatever, the clock won't start until you're ready. You'll soon get fed up of finishing at 5:30 for a 3 pm kick off., to say nothing of night matches.
