First Scottish game tonight using VAR after their clubs voted for its use.

The West Ham guy on here made a good point the other week, in reply to those urging a return back to the good old days of no video interference. These other clubs are no doubt watching. They’re seeing the controversy. They’re seeing all the arguments of why VAR is killing the game. Yet they still want it. Why is that? Maybe memories are short and selective and things weren’t quite as rosy in the garden as some people remembered?

Those that don't have it, want it. OK but those that have it, managers, players and fans, never stop calling it. Perhaps they are fed up with a product that doesn't do what we were promised it would.

But most people in Scotland follow the English league pretty closely. They can see all the same faults that we can. They can hear all the managers and players moaning about it. Why on earth would they still want that for themselves?

Is the answer because they are idiots?
What surprises me is when a country like Scotland take Var without any amendments, they simply copy the English model.
It isn't just the BM forum that criticises the way it is used, every week a manager or player will call it out.

I’d suggest that a long way towards the answer is you view it a lot differently when you’re not personally involved. I’ve seen games that I don’t care about pass by and it hasn’t even crossed my mind there’s been anything particularly controversial happen. Then you see the interviews and the managers are raging about something. Plus we’ve forgotten what it’s like to have a goal given that’s two yards off side.

Douglas Luiz, sent off after the VAR advised the ref to go to the monitor, who then sent him off, has his suspension overturned as he shouldn’t have been sent off.
Something is very wrong with the current set up and it needs better people to be running it. Too many vested interests at the minute where the emphasis doesn’t seem to be on the correct decisions but on not making fellow referees look incompetent, which surely isn’t the point.

One of the main reasons Var was introduced was to help the referee regarding off the ball incidents. Villa we're losing 1-0 when the Var referee decided that yet again he was the most important man at that game.
Who knows what would have happened if Luiz had stayed on the pitch, they could have drawn or won and Gerrard could still be in a job. Ah well, it's only a game...... even if they do get relegated, its not vars fault.

It’s ridiculous. Not only that, there seems to be no attempt to discuss what went wrong and how to make sure it doesn’t go wrong again. Whenever VAR has an opinion, as opposed to a fact based position, he should keep his mouth shut.
