Amazing how for decades the offside rule worked with out all this phase bollocks :(

If the ball is played forward and your stood in an offside decision regardless if your interfering with play or not then your OFFSIDE is that to much to ask ?????

Wigan v Man City (they have VAR in place and use it )

Wigan v Man City (they don’t have VAR in place so just use officials)

… for which team is this unfair on ?
Both.

Again, the nature of a fair competition is that all games within the competition are played under the same rules and supported by the same systems.

Creating tiered officiating from game-to-game—even in this case between different VAR system implementations between different Premier League stadiums—inherently renders the competition unfair.

Despite it not benefiting any team on the day one way or the other - I can concede the argument that it’s either in place for the whole competition or not

If the majority of teams in the cup do not have VAR then it should be dropped from every cup game

The Premier league is different because they all have it

Do they use VAR in the league cup games ????
If not then why is the FA cup different ????
VAR is not used in the league cup till the semis so why is the FA cup different ????

All matches in a given competition should be played under the same rules, using the same supporting systems.

If they aren’t, then it is not a fair competition.

You wouldn’t accept some games having an 18 yard box painted and and some not, would you?

Sounds fair but it won’t stop people moaning when it suits. There was a League Cup game last week, forget which one, probably United, that had dozens of posts on here saying it’s ridiculous they weren’t using VAR on a Premier League ground that’s set up for it.

I can’t speak to those arguments.

I can only state the basic tenets of competition fairness, and consistent rules and supporting systems across all games in a given competition being one of them.

Tonight we even saw that VAR supporting systems aren’t even implemented consistently across all Premier League facilities, much less across all facilities of clubs participating in the FA Cup.

I never accepted it. We got shafted regularly. Never evened itself out.
We get shafted now, but it is even more painfilly annoying because there is a system to prevent it that officials pick and choose to use fairly.

And before fans knew refs were not perfect and a bad decission was never liked and would be moaned about post match for a day or two, but you would soon forget it next game, VAR though still shafts teams yet you don't forget because technically it should bever happen, I am still not over spurs ir liverpool in the champs league the other few years because the obvious mistaje were reviewd and we were still cheated.

A ref in the 90s giving a wring offside decission was human error VAR where that error can be reversed but isn't as with tonight is just either corruption or incompetence, until both are sorted the technology is more harmful than useful to the standards of the game.

I blame our refs for being shite, if we had better refs then I am 100% behind VAR but at present it isn't fit for purpose

Is it not the case that lower league clubs are not set up for VAR so can’t use it - in that case it’s just a match without VAR - 11v11 for both sides - I don’t see why that’s unfair

Happy to have no VAR for cup matches at all by way - I just don’t see how it’s unfair on any club whether they have VAR or not
I think it is the case mate I might be wrong , the whole shit show with var in my opinion has fooked football. Being there at the match was a build up of anticipation and when we score was a mass celebration with your mates and family and those you’ve met along the way . Now we go and look left and right at the screen to see if we can can celebrate or not. Sad that I’ll be there tomorrow with my youngest and if we score she’ll looks at me to ask is it goal or not .
VAR suits the keyboard neutral warriors sat at home who simply have no effin clue regards what football means to us the proper lads and lasses . No pop at you mate either.
