VAR thread 2022/23

Got to say it doesn’t sit right with me that this day and age and of course with VAR review that the linesmen can’t put his flag up straightaway and if there’s doubt VAR looks at it. But to delay the flag for a few seconds after seems a pointless exercise. Why did they decide to do this.
The new instruction is to not flag at all if there is any chance of a goal. Obviously this wont be being applied to us, but is clearly happening everywhere else

Not really VAR as such but thought the referee was great tonight. Got the majority of calls right. We criticise them a lot but only right to praise v good performances.

Without VAR , the ref and officials could just say they didn’t see the incident and Nunez would have stayed on the pitch

Everyone on here, well City fans, think Martin Samuel's is an excellent journalist.
Today he has trashed, no ridiculed VAR. He says it is not fit for purpose.

No doubt a blue and another poster will be along to tell us why he is wrong. After all they spend half their day telling City fans they are.

What are you talking about..?

Of course the ref seen the incident.

The ref blew his whistle and produced his red card before the defender hit the deck..

Do you really think the ref, both lines persons and the fourth official would have missed that incident..

Nunez had already alerted the ref by whinging he'd been fouled and then proceeded to butt the defender in plain site of the ref..

Comical comment by you once again..!

if the refs and officials are in a conspiracy to benefit Liverpool then without VAR they could have just missed it, told the player to get up or just give a yellow to Nunez - just saying without VAR they could very easily not punish Liverpool for blatant reds like this

How not using VAR proves VAR works ? Like it.

But the ref did see it didn’t need VAR ..

I won't keep digging as clearly no one will agree on this

but he could easily have turned a blind eye, told the opposition player to get up, booked them both etc - would be laughable referring but that's what it was like pre VAR
