Hawkeye has been scrapped by most tennis tournaments as not 100% accurate and can be affected by wind, shadows, players getting in the way etc. Wimbledon one of the few still using it
@richardtheref Don't let facts get in the way.
Did you see, I think in this thread, the old Brian Clough interview ? He stated that the bbc (then the main broadcaster of football) were ruining football by constantly attacking referees, the bbc had hours and countless replays to prove a decision was wrong, whereas the ref had seconds.
I totally agree with him and Sky (especially) have taken it to another level.

Hawkeye is used in ALL majors except the French Open because it's Clay and you can see the markings

but despite being the ONLY major without tech being used, players are not happy:

Shapovalov, however, found support from his fellow players, including U.S. Open champion Dominic Thiem, whose match against Casper Ruud was also blighted by couple of uncertain calls.

“I would support 100% HawkEye on clay, because at the match from Denis against Roberto yesterday there was a mistake, and then today in my match there was a mistake in my favour actually,” world number three Thiem told reporters.

“Casper showed me the mark on his phone after the match. It’s not the umpire’s mistake, because sometimes you just cannot see the mark. It’s too difficult, especially after the set break, because they clean the court, they brush the lines.

“... I hope that next year we will have it (HawkEye) in every clay court tournament.”

Brad Gilbert, a former world number four and currently an acclaimed coach, also felt “modern technology works on clay better than umpire’s interpretations of marks”.

Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas agreed that he would rather depend on technology.

“I think it’s time for HawkEye on clay. I don’t understand why they haven’t proceeded,” said the world number six.

“... We have to keep growing and keep adding new things to the sport that will help make the sport better and more fair.”

The Hawk-Eye Live system will be used at this year's US Open at Flushing Meadows along with seven of the nine ATP and WTA tournaments

Hawk-Eye's margin of error averaged about 3.6 millimeters (0.14 inches) and that the system was around 99.9 percent accurate

but hey, don't let facts get in the way

The way I understand it is that the Hawkweye system used in tennis uses an algorithm to predict the flight of the ball based on tracking data from multiple cameras. It only requires tracking data from the ball as the player has no bearing on the ball being in or out.

With football this is not the case as there are interactions between ball and 2 players (the person passing the ball and the person receiving the pass). The moment the ball is played is still subjective as the camera system is not accurate enough to be able to discern the actual moment the pass was made and the operators still chose which frame they use.

absolutely it's a lot harder to determine offsides to ball in Tennis being in and out

for me, it's whether the accuracy is better than the human eye - only trial and time will determine that

Yawn

So quicker and more accurate!!!
Thereby acknowledging it has not been accurate in the past....
You are either accurate or not. Making more accurate doesn't make it accurate either.

The term Semi automatic also fills me with dread. Goal line tech is automatic.... What is the semi bit refering to?
In this instance, semi automatic is a good thing. Ifit was purely automatic, the goals scored where someone is offside but not interfering would all be chalked off.
Now some might say that’s how it should be, especially if this technology was always right so, if you're offside, you're offside. As Clough said, “if a player is not interfering with play he shouldn’t be on the pitch” Personally I don’t want to go back to that but that would be the reality of fully automated.

So Klopp is right that the wind has won us two titles?

:)

What facts are these you speak of
