Venezuela economy

Just thought for the sake of balance we should highlight some of capitalism's successes this week

Firstly it is very reassuring to see that in a country where some 30 % can't afford health care the market deems it necessary to set up a golf match between two already hugely wealthy golfers Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson. The prize 9 million dollars Warms the cockles of my heart.

In the UK privately run prisons set the standard. I imagine the US will want to know how we did it. And in Italy a bridge maintained privately collapses.

Meanwhile in India polluted rivers and un regulated building projects make a natural disaster worse causing the deaths of thousands.

Politically a day doesn't pass without elected officials being caught embezzling funds. Australia just being the latest example.

Yes it's all going swimmingly.

So a bridge collapse in a country that has had left leaning governments for most of the last 50 years is thanks to Capitalism? Brilliant analysis.

It's your analysis that's shoddy. Italy has been run by Berlusconi for most of the last 30 years and even if it hadn't that's irrelevant This was a private company given the contract cutting corners in the interest of furthering shareholder profits.

Ecuador have taken in 300,000 refugees from Venezuela, they have another 125,000 in camps on the border.

Walking from Cucuta to Bucaramanga (Columbia), seems many have died from hypothermia.

Also, we live in the richest time to have ever lived as a human being where worldwide there are less people in poverty, less childbirth deaths, less death from infectious disease, less death from starvation where living standards ate consistently growing as is worldwide access to healthcare and education.

Not sure if that was just assumed in your paragraph where you're talking about bridges

You putting all that down to Capitalism. Might be just technological progress. After all the Soviet Union achieved quite a bit too.

An interesting point as you raised it. Child mortality lower in Cuba than the US.

Stuff about Trump , Brexit , feeling sorry for tramps and beggars.
What the fuck that has to do with the good folk of Caracas I'll never know.

Lies! My point was half truths!
No mention of Brexit.
A comparison of media between the US election of Trump and Clinton.
A comparison on media between Corbyn and Lord Sheikh.
wumming?

9 years is most of the last 30 years. Ok.
