Danny Wilson, Ramos, Brian Laws, etc were all considered excellent up and coming managers, AVB hasn't proved anything yet, let's see how he does under pressure.

No chance...

Then again, Bluemoon was the forum that was trying to tell me in January that Liverpool had their pants pulled down over the Suarez deal and he was a shit player who was never going to cut it in the Premiership...!

Suarez looks a cracking player over half a good season in a premiership lets see how he gets on i always make the point of kevin phillips 30 goals one premier league season after that in this market he would have been worth 30 million if he keeps it up fair play but lets see eh.

With regards to what someone says it will be interesting to see what happens when the pressure is on the man even mourinho doesnt handle pressure well, he left chelsea when it started going wrong and then he lashed out in all directions when things werent going well at RM blaming the whole world and calling barca cheats.

AVB may turn out to be a great manager but he needs to be tested first

Thats one of the most inaccurate assessments of Mourinho I've ever seen. He thrives on it. He deliberately directs pressure to himself and away from his players so they don't have to deal with it. His media shitstorms aren't because he's a loose cannon and a bit out of his mind (though he probably is), they're calculated manoeuvres designed to protect his players and wind his opponents up. Its not fun for me to point out Abramovich's shortcomings because of what he's done for my club, but Mourinho left because of his tinkering, not because of pressure.

A few people have mentioned the pressure....he took over Porto after they finished 3rd and lost the league title to Benfica for the first time in fuck knows how long....I imagine the pressure for him to succeed there must've been immense. Particularly as he was a boyhood Porto supporter. Here's how he succeeded...:

By winning the UEFA Europa League on 18 May 2011, he is the youngest manager ever to win a European competition, at 33 years and 213 days of age.[10]

The club record for the most matches across all competitions unbeaten (36). This record was previously held by José Mourinho at 33 matches.[11] Part of this streak was completed by the previous coach of FC Porto, Jesualdo Ferreira.

The most wins in Europe in one season by a Portuguese club (14)[12]

The most points in a 30-game Portuguese league season (84)

The highest number of consecutive wins in the Portuguese league (16)

The biggest margin over the second placed team in the league (21)[13]

The only team to win the Portuguese league without being beaten aside from Benfica in 1972/73[14].

On 22 May 2011, Villas-Boas won the Treble by winning the Portuguese Cup, equalizing Tomislav Ivić (when he won 4 titles for Porto in 1987/88), and making Porto the first (and only) European team to win a treble twice (Portuguese League, Portuguese Cup and UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League).

I imagine he'll find Chelsea pretty easy going. The British media will love him because he's young, charismatic, articulate, intelligent, gifted, and has that Mourinho star quality about him.

IMO, this is one of the things that makes him such a fantastic manager. It bonds a group of people together when you have a leader like that. People'll say it's to do with ego, and part of it probably is, but to protect your players like that? It HAS to inspire loyalty.

Fair enough he may thrive on it but lashing out at all and sundry makes it look like the pressure is getting to him whether its a calculated move or not, to suggest that barcelona had never won a clean european cup certainly sounds like the actions of a man under pressure.

The fact is your assessment could be just as inaccurate as mine as you have no idea of mourinho the man or the inner workings of chelsea bar what the press tell you and me. Managers and players are built up to be much cleverer than they are and their actions are assessed and judged in a million different ways when sometimes they are just what they appear to be instead of a calculated move.

I think it's natural to view any other club/manager/player through the prism of being a City supporter....and therefore play down the strengths whilst highlighting the weaknesses...

Compared to Mancini

Italy Serie A (3) Internazionale: 2005–06, 2006–07, 2007–08
Coppa Italia (4) Fiorentina: 2000–01
Lazio: 2003–04
Internazionale: 2004–05, 2005–06
Supercoppa Italiana (2) Internazionale: 2005, 2006
England FA Cup (1) Manchester City: 2010–11

Im sure the british press will love him and he may well do a good job but as you well know billy stats cant be used to prove or disprove anything. Those numbers look very good but look at the season before the stats will show you that roy hodgson took fulham to a uefa cup final and then look what happened when he went to liverpool, the stats will also show you that steve mclaren won fc twente their first dutch league now managing notts forest.

Im not disputing you and he may do v well but the stats of what he has done make no odds against what he will do.
