Villa Vs City Post Match Thread

Not quite enough credit being given to the defence, I think. Villa were breaking very fast, and there were some really important last ditch tackles there. That was a good game of football. Villa have nothing to be ashamed of.

If we could play this every week we wouldn't lose.
I like that team.

I think Pellers knows this, we haven't been able to play this due to fitness of players coming back late and injuries. I'm sure Pellers had this team in mind for champs league and tough away days.

Best performance of the season ?

Silva was just unplayable

Toure is getting back to his best

And we saw how important fernando is to this team, such an insurance policy in the middle

slow start but we played some good stuff for most of that match, they hardly had a sniff at home...Hart had 1 save to make? Gotta say, once we went to the 1 up front things changed, we regained control of the match, looked stronger in midfield, stopped them breaking and of course....scored the 2 goals that won the match.

I thought defensively we were very good today. Thought Mangala and Vinny were immense and kept their concentration thoughout the whole game. What I loved most was the way we controlled the ball and possession after Yaya's goal, to see four City players hunt the ball down like rabid dogs with Milner at the helm in the 91st minute was so pleasing. The move for Sergio's goal was just a joy to watch and the finish world class. All in all a very impressive performance and made my birthday even better.

Good to see that Nando is back. Stable as usual. World class by Yaya and Kune when it count as most. Brilliant.
MOTM Silva, not happy to go off though...

Still think we need another World top class striker, as Dekko is not good enough at this level and pace. Hope we sign a world class striker in the summer.

Keano: shave off your ugly moustache .....

Well done lads against a good and well organised Villa team. Everyone played well today and I couldn't fault one player's performance. it was good to keep a clean sheet for a change too, whilst looking dangerous in the build up. Strangely enough though, we didn't look like scoring for long periods despite looking the better side for most of the game and Villa were a constant worry on the break especially down their right (our left) where Silva kept vacating his position.

Milner, Kompany, Yaya, Silva and Dinho were all exceptional today. The change of formation brought about our complete control of the match. I've made no secret I'm not a fan of 442, but even playing with that formation we played well. BUT, the change of formation brought about our change of fortune.

Teams seem better able to cope with us when we play with a 2 man midfield. Football evolves and so should we, because with a 3 man midfield, we put clear distance between us and Villa for the first time in the game and finally put them to the sword.

All said and done it was a vital, hard fought and hard won 3 points, I just hope the Tarquin's do us a favour against the Chavs tomorrow.

Well deserved win against what was a park the bus at home team who worked very hard but eventually were shattered closing us down.

Another day we could easily have scored 6/7 with that performance but that chance they had a 0-0 in the second half shit me up.

Also well done to Yaya he was very poor first half and for my money he'd have been benched but he improved. Merlin was really outstanding.

All you guys at the game came across loud and proud perhaps a late kick off means more pub time.

Good time for a break while we're on the up. I'd hope that when we play Spurs we'll be on top form and firing on all cylinders and will be over the World Cup summer.
