Yeah, because disagreeing with his decision to play on despite a stroke risk makes him a rag. This site is beyond belief sometimes.

a lot of bleeding hearts on here, first thing the docs would have done wasw look in his eyes and asked vinny are you ok to play on,vinny was obviously knocked about a bit and said he was fine, these injuries sound and look a lot worse that they are ,he obviously had delayed concussion which was picjked up later.

as for the stroke comments,im sure you can have a stroke but only in extreme cases, and am pretty sure vinny was never at risk of this, the stroke headline did its job grab attention, how do people think boxers get on,they have a lot worse injuries than vinnys and its part of the job, beside its about time vinny had a flat bent nose,he looks like a proper cb now.

If a boxer suffers concussion and the fight doctor, ref or corner dont pull him out people will be doing time in jail and rightly so

boxers suffer concussion all the time, there are different levels of concussion, the concussion vinny suffered would of been very mild at best and never at risk of a stroke, whereas a car crash victim for example would suffer massive concussion and be at risk of a stroke.

when a boxer gets put on his arse do you think they havent suffered concussion? and do they stop the fight ?

So, Bert Trautmann, idiot or legend?

Not the same. NOBODY knew how bad Bert was until after the game. Vinny was daft to play on if what we're hearing is true.

A broken nose isn't going to threaten his life though and the concussion wasn't known until after the game.

If you receive a blow to the head so severe that it breaks your nose (an injury that was visibly clear for even non-medically trained people to see) then there has to be the possibility that there is further damage that is unseen, in this case a fractured eye socket and concussion. It's the doctor's job not to patch up the player and send them back out there, it's their job to treat the injuries and determine whether the player should or shouldn't return to the pitch. It can be argued again and again whether the doctor knew or didn't know about the further injuries, but what's undeniable is that it was certainly possible that Kompany had those injuries, a fact the doctor should have been well aware of. Given the fact Kompany had the potential to be suffering from a more serious injury than a broken nose the doctor should have removed him from the pitch, to allow him to continue when there was the possibility (and, in the end, the reality) that Kompany had more serious injuries, such as the concussion and the fractured eyet socket, was negligent.
